I bought my nuker in 1989. It is a Kenmore.

I had to replace one of the ceramic fuses after a thunderstorm years ago, but it is still going strong. 21 years old.

My first lasted 25 yrs. I don't think its replacement will last 25 months!! Please let me know how you like this one.

The Amana Radar Range my DH brought home in 1974 was still working when we gave it away in 2000!

Our first one is still going. When we redid our kitchen 3 years ago we got a maytag that goes up over the stove. We gave our old one along with a nice cabinet to a friends daughter and she loves it. I don't even remember what brand it was but it was a big old thing. We didn't have our new one but about a month and the key pad went out. The service guy came and put a new one in. The bill was over $500.00. It was under warranty so we didn't have to pay for it. We didn't even pay that much for it. Crazy!!!

I've never actually had a microwave quit on me. My first one was a Panasonic that I had about three years and it was stolen during a break in. The replacement was a Toshiba. Big old hog, but it was roomy for cooking. Could stack up the cookware in there and do several things at once. It had a couple quirks that I didn't really like and wanted a smaller oven. Couldn't even give it away - nobody wants a used microwave. The current one I believe is a Samsung. I paid $32 for it and got a $10 rebate. Could have gotten the one with electronic controls for $10 more and it was slightly larger but I didn't need an extra clock to use power all the time and have to set it every time the power goes out and at daylight saving time changes. At times I miss the room of the other one, but this does everything I need it to. I just replaced my stove and now have room for a range hood. Didn't know the wiring was run for it already. So I might consider an over the range microwave with the vent hood, or maybe I'll splurge and look at an Advantium.

I have the Quisinart microwave and I love the looks of it. I've had mine for three years now. it still works but I think it's taking twice as long to heat things up. I use a microwave to defrost and reheat mostly. Good luck with yours.

My first Microwave was huge, had a probe thing so you could cook roasts, etc, which I never did. I cooked whole turkeys though, among many other things. I really liked it. It was a Litton. We had it from 1982 until I downsized in 2003. It was supposed to go to the auction, but got overlooked, and was given to the Salvation Army.

Now I have a small GE which I bought about 5 years ago, after letting one catch fire. OOps!.

Also have a Convection oven.

I just threw out 2 microwaves that lasted less than 6 years together. My Kenmore washer is still going strong after about 19 years. It's old, almond colored and I'm afraid to buy a new one. I've had to have a small item on it fixed once. I'm glad I had it repaired and not replaced because I don't trust things made today.

I purchased my first microwave in 1977 and it was working perfectly when I gave it to Goodwill 25 years later. It was a powerful 1000 watt one with a probe for temperature control - something I don't think they make anymore with microwaves. It had dials for settings instead of a touchpad. The thing was huge. It cost me $350. It was great using the temperature probe to keep liquid items like soup from boiling over, but I never really used it for roasts or casseroles because I cook them covered to retain the steam.

I am so sorry I ever got rid of it. My next one was a "top of the line" with a sensor to detect cooking instead of the probe. It was completely programmable so just by hitting the menu item codes you could defrost, cook, and keep warm with one setting and not have to keep checking and revising the cooking time and power. It was the most expensive microwave out at the time @$200. "Top of the line" with the fancy sensor and it had a sleek cool design with a tiny footprint.

That thing lasted about 8 months. The programmable touch pad went wonky. Now the screen just shows "hieroglyphics" and it won't accept any numerals pushed on the touchpad. I can turn it *ON* or *OFF* with the 'Minute Plus' button. That's it. No adjusting the power. No setting the minutes. No programming for delicate or complicated dishes.

I refuse to play into their hands and buy another microwave that will probably last me a few weeks. Or maybe just days. I have actually contemplated buying one of those old workhorses from Goodwill but I worry how it may have been taken care of. Microwave leaks are not anything I want to expose myself to.

I am contemplating buying a new range and may buy a matching OTR microwave and fan to free up my counterspace. But at this point I even worry about getting a new range with those plastic touchpads. I am shopping only for ones with dials just like I did with my new washer. ("Top of the line" Maytag washer broke after only three years. MY new current one has dials.)

I had the same problem until we had the kitchen remodeled and found out that it's supposed to be on a dedicated line. I had mine plugged in w/ my fridge.

It's now on a dedicated line but I still had to replace it after about 3 years. I've had expensive ones & not expensive ones, didn't matter they all died after 3 yrs. or so.
