I'm reading "Heart And Soul" by Maeve Binchy. I'm near the end and I'm enjoying it very much, I hate to come to the end of a good book. A friend recommended A DIFFERENT KIND OF NORMAL by Cathy Lamb.

Janet Evanovich new book, The Husband List. I don't prefer books in the big dress, corsett era.

I'm reading Deadly Stakes by J. A. Jance. Once I'm done with that, I'll read another in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward, Lover Enshrined. (Vampire series, if you aren't familiar with them.)

I'm reading "The Forgotten" by David Baldacci. His books are all great!

"The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" by Rachel Joyce, c. 2012.

This pilgrimage is about deeply buried feelings more than the physical journey, but that is well portrayed too. (Not 'light entertainment'. The author can write.)

This is an oldie but goodie. I'm reading the first book in the Alexander McCall Smith series #1 Ladies Detective Agency. I read one of the later ones and liked it so much I decided to go back and read them in order.

Just finished Aunt Dimity and the Lost Prince, The Hit, Storm Front and The Body in the Piazza. In the process of reading Dinner Chez Moi, a cookbook.

Just finished Say Goodbye by Lisa Gardner... have now started The Hit by Davis Baldacci. I agree Wanda I've practically read all he's written and all make for a great read.

Just finished Stephen King's "11/22/63." Liked the time travel a lot, but didn't feel connected to the characters.

Currently reading Tina Fey's "Bossy Pants". Actually, I am listening on tape. I usually listen when I walk each day, but am laughing too hard to walk while I listen to this!

I just finished the Shetland mysteries, a short series by Ann Cleeves. Shetland is a remote part of Scotland in the north. Good stories and character but such a strong, remarkable sense of place that I read straight through the series and am really missing it.

"Before I Go To Sleep" by S.J. Watson. Over half way through and it's good.

I have started reading books about miracles now. The one that I am reading is EVERYDAY MIRACLES.

Bengardening, you may like the series of 'Small Miracles' too.. lots of short stories, very good!

I'm currently reading Mary Shomon's 'Living Well with Hypothyroidism: What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You... That You Need to Know'. I'm only on the third chapter, but I think it'll be helpful, seems to be filled with a lot of good information I haven't read in other thyroid books.

I've read several good books the last couple months. Where We Belong by Emily Giffin, The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani, The Time In Between by Maria Duenas, Cutting For Stone and Doc, A Novel. by Maria Doria Russel. Doc is a historical novel about Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp. It was very interesting. I very much enjoyed all five books and would recommend them. I also read Gone Girl which has been on the best seller list for a long, long time. I personally wasn't crazy about it but must admit, I couldn't put it down. It's really really weird.

Tonight I got two books from a gf that she has not had time to read with going to college. Need to decide which one to start.

The Gettysburg Widow. It's a free book on Kindle right now and it's really good, if you like books from this era. It's about a very young woman, who is only 20 but was widowed 2 years before the Civil War hit Gettysburg. The book has lots of quotes from women's diaries during the civil war. I haven't taken the time to look it up but it sounds just like the farm that you see while driving thru the park that was seized as a hospital by the Yankee's. The book is very interesting, not a dull moment from the beginning.

Stacey -- I haven't found anyone else who has read this. I'm still thinking about the characters. I was OK with insights into them as the book progressed, but reflecting on the conclusion... pretty sad. I'm not sure I should recommend it. What do you think? Is it a downer or a kick in the pants?

Chisue - Thank you for your comments. I thought that the book had a very optimistic and hopeful ending. Both Harold and Maureen Fry acknowledged, confronted and dealt with some difficulties in each of their pasts. Because they did this, they were liberated from them and not imprisoned any more. This set them free for new beginnings. One result is that Harold and Maureen will have a richer relationship. An example is that since Maureen realizes she values Harold in her life and can talk to him, she won't need to only have conversations with their deceased son any more. After all, he is gone, sad but the truth of this has to be accepted. Formerly she treated her husband in quite a dismissive way. I'm reading "Papillon". I saw the movie back in the '70's. Saw the book at a yard sale and I have been carrying it around with me. Jody was in the hospital and I took it to read while waiting on him and when he goes to doctor appointments or when I am just waiting around in general.
