From one of my recipe boards:

I made pancakes once that were terrible, I guess I didn't put in the right amount of ingredients or I didn't mix it enough because taking a bite out of them left a pile of powder in your mouth. I hated to waste them so I threw one out to my dog and saw him pick it up in his mouth and when I looked out the window a few seconds later it was gone. I figured he liked it so I put the rest in his bowl. Later that day I was taking the trash out and noticed his bowl was empty and figured at least they didn't go to waste. But when I walked around the side of the house I saw every one of them hidden in the tall grass up against the fence. He didn't want to hurt my feelings so he pretended to eat them.

The seedlings are growing their 2nd sets of true leaves...but how long can they stay in the soilless mix? When they're young, they basically live off their seed leaves. However, if they're working on their second set of true leaves, they're going to need some nutrients soon. You can start them off with a mild fertilizer solution (preferable) or get them into a richer soil mix.. And how long do they have to stay under the lights? Until they're hardened off outside, of course ;) I'd avoid transplanting unless you either need to thin out your seedlings or unless they outgrow their pots. Transplanting is generally a shock to plants. Will the plants be strong or even survive if they stay in soil-less mix and under florescent lights that long? Plants don't need soil to thrive. That's what hydroponics is ;) The sun is better than pretty much any light setup you'll build, but most plants can survive just fine under fluorescent lights, provided you make sure there's sufficient light. When the seedlings are 3" or 4" can they be moved to sunny windows and I can keep using the lights for the youngest plants? It depends on how sunny your windows are. You could consider supplementing them with additional light in their new location, if possible, such as a clip-on spotlight fixture with a bright CFL.

Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry about your Grandad. I know my words can't bring you enough comfort, but I hope they can help. Last year my dear GrandAunt Virginia passed away after a long, long battle with breast cancer. Within 2 months, her husband also passed. He had been relatively healthy until then. They were both elderly, had been married nearly 60 years, but they are together again, just as they'd been from the first day they met. My cousin was much like you, she's our age, and had just lost her mother, then her father. She said that while in the beginning it was so difficult, it actually got easier for her knowing that their love for one another carried on and remains with their family to this day. The photo of your Grandad is beautiful. Your Grandmother was a beauty, and I know that their love will transcend this earth. Hugs to you.

Callmerae...if you go pack to the original thread, one of the last posts (from another poster) basically implies that westwinger was lying and then abusing drugs instead of dealing with the problem... "something sounds fishy about your story. I, for one, would like to hear her side. Your taking pills!!! Solutions don't come from pills." I don't think it was aimed at you at all...westwingers last post on that thread included this, "Callmerae, "If you saw me work the bag for the last few days I think you would run and hide. Way too funny!!!! And YES that is love!!! I know our cat Jed wants a hug & kiss from both of us every night. We will be laying in bed watching tv and he will crawl up our chests, put a paw on each side of our necks and then kiss us good night. He will then go burrow himself under his blanket and sleep there til I get up in the morning. He has taken up going back to bed with me, but he wants to be sly with it. So he waits til I go to sleep then gets back on the bed and buries himself under his blanket. Well this morning his blanket was on top of my blanket, so when he snuggled under it was my blankets he got under, So cute with just his front paws sticking out..

Speaking of reasoning, I had 2 baby spider plants on the cupboard that goes above the toilet.

Sure enough, there was a cat looking at me in the mirror!!! BUD was up there eating the spider plants. Crap. I don't have anything high enough out of his reach.

I got two:

First: Ruby (pug) loves to get treats from people, even if it is something she doesn't like. My grandma loves to give the dogs things, and one day was giving her some kind of seasoning coated cracker. She would gladly take it, and seemed like she was going around the side of the chair and eating it (to keep it from the other dogs maybe?). The go back for another.

A while later, my dad yells at the kids because there is a pile of crackers behind the chair. Ruby was taking them to be polite, but didn't like them so left them behind the chair LOLOL!

Second: Cap'n jack (cat) is very good about covering things in the litter box, even things that are not his own. If one of the dogs has an accident or a cat has a hairball, we will often find him "burrying" it by covering it with something - a piece of paper, a stolen sock, a throw rug, etc.

My husband cooked frozen hamburgers, the cheapest kind, and they were AWFUL. They looked bad, smelled bad, just gross. Cap'n Jack seemed really interested, and though we don't normally give our animals people food, DH decided to offer him a piece of burger. Which Cap'n Jack took, them promptly burried in the litter box ROFL!

bless my dh heart...while we were dating, he decided to try and fix biscuits from scratch,,,got home from work, and here were these golden brown gems...till you tried to bite them they were hocky pucks! he'd completely reverse amounts of baking soda....needless to say we went out...but despite his cooking then? we're on year 44, lol...

I miss your stories of Ruby's antics!

Conway (The Sexiest Pug in the World) would do that at the bank. He would jump in my lap and make googly eyes at the clerk until she gave him his little Milk Bone. He would sit up straight in the passenger seat with that bone in his mouth until we left the window and turned the corner, then he would promptly lean forward and spit it out on the floor! LOL
I sure miss that little guy!
