A great weekend! (long)

Our weekend started Thursday when we left for Charleston, SC to my nephew's wedding. When we got to the HInn my other 4 sisters and BIL's who could make it were already there and waiting for us. We had a great visit and our room had a view of the Ashley river and The Citadel across the water. Getting around in that town is really confusing--many streets and lots of them one-way. But it's a beautiful town. Had dinner in the roof-top restaurant which was normal Holiday Inn food but we were all too tired to fight traffic.

The wedding was in a really old chapel with only one center aisle and beautiful stained-glass windows. There were no flowers in the church just the candelabras. Instead of organ music they had a friend who plays saxophone so the music was classical Kenny G :-) My 2-year old niece was flower girl and everyone was saying she wouldn't be able to do it, but that little cutie walked down the aisle like she did it every day. Walked slowly and looked at the people as she did. First of all she has this long curly hair and is the cutest thing ever. The bride was so pretty--she isn't a fancy person and hates being the center of attention, but she did fine. I couldn''t look at my nephew because I would have sobbed--I moved to FL when he was 1-1/2 and he was just the sweetest baby.

The reception was at an old plantation. The grounds were just gorgeous with all the moss-laden oak trees that are hundreds of years old. The cocktail hour was on the other side of the little paved path to the house where the canopy was set up in the back yard. The dinner was BBQ pork and shrimp and grits, sweet potato biscuits, corn and? biscuits and a whole table of vegetarian food (bride is veggie). Huge dance floor and an open bar made for lots of dancing people. The weather was perfect and it was a wonderful time.

The next morning we left for Harry's hometown for a family reunion. That's a whole 'nother post.
