Midnight blue pebble tec
Comments (10)David...I have Ocean Blue PebbleSheen, the Sheen equivalent of Midnight Blue Pebble Tec. Yes, the adjacent trees on/near our property do reflect off the surface of the water, making parts look green at different times in the day. And, it's not just the trees, it's also the shrubs and low plantings we have - all at least 5' away from the water's edge. The only way I can see to getting around the green reflections is to surround your pool with concrete for quite some distance! I suspect, as you do, that the reflection of green will happen no matter what pool finish you choose...however it would be intensified if you choose a finish/color that has a green look to it already. Because you have a heavily wooded backyard, your pool color, even with green reflections would probably look better in your environment than a bright blue finish with no reflections (if that were even possible). As far as lights are concerned, we have 2 SAm lights in a 40' pool, depth 3-6', and we can see the bottom just fine with all colors, although some are more illuminating than others....See MorePebble Tec/Pebblesheen Colors
Comments (5)Dogma, we didn't, and I am very sorry we didn't. We went with PT all the way up to the coping. I wanted a natural look with no tile, and the water here is so high in calcium that we have a ring at the waterline that we can't clean off. I would like to put in a tile waterline in the future, but I don't know what I would choose; probably something very natural looking, I don't care for the tiles with design in them in lagoon pools, they look better for pools with straight lines. Let me know what you decide on if you go with Caribbean Blue, like I said we want to do it in the future. Good luck!...See MorePebbleTec Tahoe Blue vs. PebbleSheen Blue Granite
Comments (6)I'm in total agreement with you about green! Green = algae = not in my pool! Our plaster guy was really pushing Tahoe Blue, not sure why, although I got a hint from one of the installers that it might be one of the cheaper mixes. Anyhow... After looking at many, many pictures online and talking to people, I found that Tahoe Blue definitely has a bit of green to it. I'm guessing it's named after a lake because natural bodies of water are green-blue because of plants living in them. The ocean only looks pure blue on Sandals Resorts commercials. ;) We were between Midnight Blue and Tropics Blue and ended up using Tropics Blue (Stonescapes mini pebble) and we really like it. I think it's as close to a true medium blue as I've seen in a pool. It's dark enough to capture a little bit of heat but light enough to see the bottom clearly, and it has a really beautiful shimmer when the sun is on it. And we really like how the actual pebbles look where you can see them on the steps and in the spa. It's a really nice mix of colors. Now at some moments it might have a touch of the windex-look you're talking about. Thanks for that, by the way, I was calling it Kool Aid! But overall, it's a really nice, rich, shimmery, medium blue. I suggest that you search online for images of the exact color names you're looking at. Look at many pictures and take in the whole range. Don't just focus on one image you like because there's no guarantee of how exactly it will look in your pool, in your yard, with your sunlight, etc. Good luck!...See MorePlease help - pebble tec colors (Houston, TX)
Comments (8)You might take a look at the pictures in my blog from building my pool last year. I have Blue Lagoon with Shimmering Sea and I love it, although it is not exactly the Windex Blue I was hoping for......most of the time. Angle of the sun throughout the day and throughout the year changes the color dramatically. I did avoid the brown and green I did not want, but the shades and tones of blue actually clash with my tile at times. If I had to d it again, I would go with a contrasting tile vice trying to "bring out the blue". Our city water is very green, so white pools here are greenish-blue, not blue blue. I've been meaning to post more recent pix, will try to do so in the next few days. Here is a link that might be useful: My Blue Pool Blog...See Moresdkath
