Pebble Sheen Water Darkness
Comments (6)Anthony, Turtle Bay looked a wee bit more green to us. We had only 1 Pebble Tec pool to look at in person (PB gave us wrong name of the finish and didn't know the color) so we went totally by photos on the Pebble site (not all that helpful IMO) and by photos on this site (quite helpful). I mentioned that our pool is in full sun, so I concentrated on the photos of pools also in full sun. I was also swayed by the fact that, looking at the colors on paper from the PT website, my DH said he wanted Midnight Blue Pebble Tec. I surprised him by going with the Sheen equivalent and he loves it. I'm very glad that I didn't go with Turtle Bay if it indeed has a bit more green to it. I can get reflections on the pool of trees beyond our fence during certain times of the day and that definitely casts a greener hue to parts of the pool. With Turtle Bay it may have been greener????? You'll probably hear from Turtle Bay owners who'll swear their pool isn't green at all - and I'd trust their opinions because they actually HAVE the color. Remember - I saw NO Pebble pools with either color prior to our selection. Good luck....See MorePebble coming this weekend - see how far I've come
Comments (8)Thank you guys for checking it out. Will post again when filled or after the cure time. I think I read here that it's 2 weeks for pebbletec to reach it's final stage. Is there really no swimming during that time. Is that 10 days or 14? I just don't know that I can stand to wait. gotpool - yes spa will go in the corner. I had them create the raised area 12X12. Spa is 8X8 and I want to find a reasonably priced gazebo, maybe 10X10. gk5040 - 20 questions not a problem - under the gazebo there was a poorly constructed pond. My sons convinced me to do the spa instead. I went with the midnight blue pebble tec. They just applied it today. Acid wash tomorrow. Tiles are fixed. They still went with slicing them up, but there are the same number of slices on both sides now. I'll show that when I upload the filled pool. My coping is a limestone from MasterTile (Torreon). I got very frustrated trying to decide on coping and tile. PB is also bringing a tan skimmer lid....See MorePebbleTec Tahoe Blue vs. PebbleSheen Blue Granite
Comments (6)I'm in total agreement with you about green! Green = algae = not in my pool! Our plaster guy was really pushing Tahoe Blue, not sure why, although I got a hint from one of the installers that it might be one of the cheaper mixes. Anyhow... After looking at many, many pictures online and talking to people, I found that Tahoe Blue definitely has a bit of green to it. I'm guessing it's named after a lake because natural bodies of water are green-blue because of plants living in them. The ocean only looks pure blue on Sandals Resorts commercials. ;) We were between Midnight Blue and Tropics Blue and ended up using Tropics Blue (Stonescapes mini pebble) and we really like it. I think it's as close to a true medium blue as I've seen in a pool. It's dark enough to capture a little bit of heat but light enough to see the bottom clearly, and it has a really beautiful shimmer when the sun is on it. And we really like how the actual pebbles look where you can see them on the steps and in the spa. It's a really nice mix of colors. Now at some moments it might have a touch of the windex-look you're talking about. Thanks for that, by the way, I was calling it Kool Aid! But overall, it's a really nice, rich, shimmery, medium blue. I suggest that you search online for images of the exact color names you're looking at. Look at many pictures and take in the whole range. Don't just focus on one image you like because there's no guarantee of how exactly it will look in your pool, in your yard, with your sunlight, etc. Good luck!...See MorePebble Tec Advice!
Comments (9)The 3M Colorquartz crystals are added to regular plaster in lieu of some of the other aggregate that would normally be used (crushed white marble, for example). It adds some durability and color. As long as you brush the plaster several times a day, every day, for the first few weeks, you should end up with a very smooth product. The pebble interiors are not rough, per se, but they do have more texture to them. The stones don't have any sharp edges. The Pebble Tec stones are larger than the Pebble Sheen stones, and the Pebble Sheen interior is polished as part of the acid wash phase before filling the pool. Some folks love the feel of Pebble Tec, but for me, personally, the surface was too bumpy. I have often said, and I posted it above, that the Pebble Sheen surface is a lot like the surface of a basketball or football. There are little bumps, but you don't really notice them. We did our pool as owner builders in 2004, so the pool is 3 years old. We love the Pebble Sheen, and we love the Black Onyx. If we sell this house and move, we will put in another pool; we will do it as owner builders; and we will have Black Onyx Pebble Sheen for the interior. (And we'll use Bouquet Canyon flagstone again, and if the same waterline tile is available, we'll use it again, too.) You should ask your pool builder, or the plaster company, if they can set up some appointments for you to go to some prior customers' homes to see the different products/colors that you're considering. Be prepared to take your shoes/socks off and step into the pool (you'll only need to get onto the first or second step) so you can experience first hand what the interior surface feels like to the soles of your feet....See MoreRelated Professionals
