We have system that was just gunited, I will report back in a few months when the project wraps up.

Your estimates sound about right considering where you live. I've worked with California Pools on some of their projects and I know they've installed a number of those units. I've heard them say that those customers that had them install the Fastlane really liked it and said they were glad they did it. Probably a great fit for your small pool if it's installed correctly.

We just paid 1/2 that for a 15/30, pool/spa + waterfeature (scupper). This also included ~700 sq. ft of concrete decking, kooldeck, some a limestone raised beam, limestone coping, tile @ water line, and full Jandy Aqualink RS with PDA system.

This is in Austin, TX, and about 1/2 of the excavation was pure rock. It took 7 days to fully excavate.

You are lucky if it only twice as much to build a pool in Hawaii.

Thanks for the responses. Cost of paradise,I guess. Racquet, what was the cost of adding the Fastlane in? When you were looking for the contractor, did you have all the equiptment and hardware spec'ed out prior? Not sure how to proceed.

I am a fiberglass swimming pool distributor here in Hawaii. I have a client that is looking to put in a fiberglass pool with a swim current system. He is looking at www.swimgym.com and www.current-systems.com for other options. If you don't want to go overboard cost-wise consider a Badu type swim jet system.

Thanks Donaldv. I checked the two sites that you mentioned in the previous post. The riverflow and swimgym looked interesting. Nice to know that there are other options out there. The Riverflow said that the hydraulic systems are noisy, is that true? The system is about 50% more ($3000). Is it worth the extra expense? How are fiberglass pools, haven't considered them as an option. Can you discribe the advantage and disadvantages? Interested in a salt system and solar in addition to the spa. Can you really get medical writeoffs?

I can't tell you if the extra expense is worth it or not. The advantages to the swim gym would be the fact that there is nothing obtruding into the pool itself. Also, with the fastlane you have the hydraulic hoses to contend with. I have not had enough experience with either system to really give you an educated guess. In regards to your questions about fiberglass pools: They are gaining in popularity all the time. They are easier to take care of, cheaper to maintain,and the installation time is measured in weeks as opposed to months. Salt systems are great and the pros outweigh the cons. The solar heating is a great idea but you should have some back up heating source for the spa. A medical write off is possible, but your doctor would have to write you a prescription and I'm sure there are other hoops you would have to jump through.
