Beach wedding cake.

Daughter has just delivered this cake for a wedding down the beach today, she followed a picture the bride sent, the cost $185.00, fondant icing and I forgot to ask the cake flavour

If it weren't for the Wolf dual fuel's porcelain issues, I would recommend that. That is the only dual fuel range that I've heard raves about the oven performance. Unfortunately because of the chipping issues I could not recommend it currently. Since I'm not aware of any other dual fuel ranges that are universally liked I don't have any specific recommendations, sorry. It seems like most of the ovens on the market lots of people really like are wall ovens. All I can say is that since this is for a business you really want to make sure whatever you buy works well. If I were in your position I would be sure to try baking in the range before you buy. Often it can be hard to find "live" ranges - but try your best. If I were in your position I would look at GE Monogram, Electrolux Icon, KitchenAid, JennAir, Dacor, and Thermador.

She is Brittney Spears' sister. Very pretty cake. My sister's MIL made wedding cakes. She made her son a chocolate grooms cake. Did you ever see the movie Steel Magnolias? In the wedding scene there's a red velvet covered with brown icing armadillo grooms cake. lol (That looks like an autopsy)

I had to read this twice. Looks like from the second post that the OP did not encourage the family to attend the wedding - the 'adult' part of her simply decided not to push the issue and agreed not to attend, herself. Dirtunder, are you upset by the events, or are you upset by the silence? Sometimes the elephant in the room left undiscussed is far more painful then the event itself. At any rate, we all benefit by setting emotions aside and by learning how to talk to our families about what upsets us. BTW, is anyone talking about the fact that brother is an alcoholic and had (has) sexual boundary issues? This seems like a forest through the trees topic to me.

Gillian-That is a breathtaking cake.Such detail! I have done a little cake decorating myself,not nearly as good as your DD,but I know he time and patience that goes into a cake like that.$185. would not be near enough for that cake!Your DD is very talented.Does she do this as a hobby or a business? She should be on one of those cake decorating contest shows on TV.

When my daughter got married we had a beautiful cake with fondant icing with fondant azaleas--believe me, that is VERY inexpensive. And that was 17 years ago!! The beach cake is just beautiful--as always.

Gorgeous! Did she make the shells and starfish, too? Does she do any cakes that have just icing or does she just do the rolled fondant?

Your daughter isn't a cake decorator she is truly an artist. I always enjoy seeing pictures of her cakes but she has outdone herself this time.

Lovely cake, but she needs to charge more! My husband's niece had a bridal shower cake a bit smaller than that which cost the mother $500! People will pay for all that wonderfully hard work and artistry!

Yes, she should enter to compete in those cake-offs on the food network channel. And some NYC bakers fly all over the country with cakes that cost thousands for weddings...She could charge more if she wanted. Her cakes are THAT good looking!!!!

Just a few answers to the questions asked.

Marigene..... The shells & starfish are made from melted white chocolate in a silicon mold then dusted with pearl powder, and yes she uses both fondant & butter cream icing.

Lilliepad....The cake making is just a hobby she would love to have a business but health rule here make it very hard and expensive, but can work through a caterer with a license.

Lisa_fla... She delivers the cakes in the back of her SUV driving very careful plus there are wooden dowels inside the cake.
