New Quilt Finished

Finally finished a quilt I started last summer while on vacation. Went to visit with relatives in N. Mississippi and we brought our 3 dogs, they have 2 dogs, so this quilt is a cartoon of the dogs, in dress.

Photobucket keeps cutting my photos in half, so again I have put them on the Flickr site. the first photos are of close ups, there are probably 8 the last one is of the whole quilt, if you click on the photo you will get a larger pic

I really like that and I am not a huge fan of two color quilts but just my little sample that I made with the directions you gave would really work up nice in that pattern. Great first quilt!!! Look on your batting wrapping and it will give suggestions as to how close (or far apart) the quilting should be. The one I am using now suggests 2". I am just learning to machine quilt (about 5 years now lol) and I love anything that doesn't have to be marked. With SITD it is sometimes not easy to stay in the 'ditch', but when the quilt is washed it doesn't show as much. The scrappy Irish Chain I am making for my sister is going to be mostly quilted on the diagonal. You can always mix it up and do different quilting designs. Have Fun! Rosa

I need to find the post of the quilter here that had a penny hidden in her quilt as a child. I couldn’t find any references on line about it, but penny's always seem lucky, like finding one is supposed to bring you good luck. The new mom loved the quilt! I forgot to get a picture of the baby with it. Rose was sleeping and not happy when she woke up!

Ohh that is sooo cute! It makes me want to laugh at the fun the dogs are having . I just had to send that link to my 10 yr old GD she has a mimi daushund just like Snitzel . Great job !

Absolutely wonderful! Do you use coloring pages for the designs, or do you draw them yourself? They are fabulous! Just a great piece of art!

Too cute! Those dogs are great and have such personality. I love the cat fabric on the back too -- a little irony there for the pups!

Your crazy quilt embellishments are also amazing. Those quilts belong in a museum some day!

Thank all of you for your kind words, does an old gal real good! you see my quilts probably more then my family, to answer some questions, New2 I do both hand and machine on quilts, depends on the effect I want, no reason not to use all the things out there, Islay, the cat block I took from a wall art free pattern I had, but it was a racoon, and we had punkinhead, so seemed natural that he get in the quilt too. The tree on the Nigerian quilt was machine stitched. Marti, I usually sketch on butcher paper, they are my own designs, but I have used coloring books for things at other times. the backing fabric is a joke on me! by me I guess, had some of the dogs and needed a larger amount for this quilt ran into Walmart and grabbed, as the lady cut I kept busy with beads and things, wasn't until I was ready to get the backing washed that I saw I had grabbed the cats, thought that was sort of funny, jokes on me.
