And don't forget that the finale is this Sunday, the 16th! How many will they take to the final tribal council? They need to vote off three or four people, I guess.

Sushipup, thanks for the heads up, I didn't realize the finale was this weekend. Seems like it just started!

Previews last week looked like Russell was teaming up with Rupert and Colby. That will be interesting.

Thanks for the heads up, Mike. Next year they will both go into either the 511 or Gritty mix. This year this is what I could do with what I had on short notice. I fully intend to fertilize when they go outside, probably every other watering. They will indeed be in full sun (gradually) - they'll sit on the south side of the house near my front door. Last year I put my Meyer in direct sun that it got most of the day and it loved every second of it, even the days over 100 degrees. Nearly doubled in size. Maybe by the end of the summer it'll be as big and healthy as it was when I bought it at least. I've got my store bought lemons until then, I suppose. I've got a Miracle Berry plant and a Tea plant (Camellia Sinensis) on wait for me. They ship May 1st. I can barely wait - I've got the pots already (The same as my citrus pots) and this weekend I'll be picking up soil. My plan was to get the citrus soil this weekend too, or at least start getting supplies for one of the recommended mixes, but it was shipped much sooner than I expected and there is literally nothing in the way of garden centers nearby my school save for home depot (MiracleGro only...) I drove to five places before finding the Black Diamond soil! The Miracle Berry is easy enough, goes into an acid mix of sphagnum and perlite, 50/50. The tea plant is a bit harder, it needs a well draining slightly acidic soil mix of sorts. Still working that one out. Good deal on your container garden surviving! This winter was especially harsh. I don't know that I have the polluted ground problem but I can't plant anything in the ground out here, nothing would survive outside long term. I'd plant some berries, but this is not permanent housing for me, so I'm out of luck till I have some property I can call my own.

dee-dee - where are you? Is your school district planning to do the same thing? with all the snow days, we're already going to the end of June. I can see closing the school where the infected child was attending, but *all* the schools in the district, K-12? I assume you have one fully functional bath downstairs? How old are your kids? Hopefully not teenagers who spend an hour at a time in there! I am definitely a perfectionist - though when it comes to tearing walls out b/c a header is crooked, I'm learning that cutting the sheetrock so the casing lays flat is "good enough". I spent yesterday AM while DD was on field trip (I didn't have to drive) skimming some spots around my bay window so the baseboard wouldn't have a huge gap behind it. Anything under 1/4" we can caulk, but over that just really needed joint compound (with stained trim, can't hide as much with caulk and paint). My cousin is meticulous, but as he said, he knows how fussy he *can* be, whereas I know how I want things, but don't really know what's possible, or possible with a reasonable amount of effort. He did finally call. DS is sick with a high fever, but dr didn't say it was serious. They're not in the same district (though his ds and my dd attend the same preschool), so there really isn't any way he could have been exposed to anyone in our district who may have been exposed to the kid who just got back from Mexico. He doesn't have a cell phone, so couldn't call me when the landscaping ran late. I don't know why his DW couldn't call me back when she heard the message (maybe figured he'd be home soon enough, maybe figured I'm *his* cousin calling for *him* to work, so let *him* deal with me). It just drives me crazy waiting for someone who never shows and doesn't call when they're late/can't make it. He is a good carpenter and just a sweet guy, so I'll wait until he's available again, just keep finishing what I can so it's ready for him to nail up or miter. Some day, maybe 5 years from now ;-), my house will finally be finished, with floors that *stay* installed, and a bath for the kids/guests, and my soaking tub (Calgon, take me away!!). Then I can start thinking about replacing the laminate countertops and doing a tile or stone b/s ;-), maybe even repaint the ceilings LOL! Thanks for letting me vent.

Protecting particleboard counter edges
Q

My very-much-on-a-budget family has a nice new Wilsonart laminate countertop. I ran my finger under the overhanging edges and, sure enough, there is laminate on top and particle board underneath. My kids splash a lot (the previous countertop disintegrated due to splashing which caused water leaking which did about what you'd expect to fiberboard), and I hate messing with anything oil based if I can avoid it plus I'm terrified of ruining the look of my beautiful new countertop by smearing something icky on it, so after much internet research, here's what I'm trying: (1) two coats of Minwax water based polycrylic, which is alleged to give a crystal clear finish and it apparently does. (2) after the Minwax has had a week to cure, I'm going to pick a day when the countertop is super dry (ship the kids to Siberia for a couple days maybe?) and then protect the most vulnerable area (the three feet directly in front of the sink, we don't have a dishwasher), by running a cut to fit half inch strip of duck tape along it, on the theory that duck tape fixes everything and it won't be conspicuous since it will be underneath the countertop lip. Duck tape kept the old countertop functioning a couple of years beyond its normal life span, so maybe I should just start off right and get the duck tape in place BEFORE the MDF has a chance to get wet. ____________________________ I'm quite nervous about my method. There's a big online controversy over whether it's okay to use waterbased polycrylic on MDF - one person alleges that use of water based polycrylic will cause the MDF to separate from the laminate because hey, it's water based! - but others think it's okay, so I decided to try it. The two coats of polycrylic did cause the MDF grain to come up - it was smooth before and it's now rough to touch - but I don't know if that's good (because it absorbed the polycrylic and will now be impervious to water) or bad (because the nay-sayer who says it will cause the laminate to separate is correct.) I'll let you know in a year or so how the countertop is getting along and whether it is in peaceful co-existence with the kids!

Trash Pullout Under 10" Deep Sink
Q
Comments (30)
Elaine Caputo, that is my set up, although my drain is offset to the rear center, but the drain pipe does run to and connect on the right side of the interior. It was easily done. I bought THIS REV-A-SHELF 2 bin pullout, installed on the left. I only use one of the tall bins that came with the unit - for recycling. I replaced the other bin with a smaller/shorter one for my trash - I didn't need such a large bin for trash, the smaller bin allows me to recycle grocery bags as trash bags, and leaves some room for whatever you like in the front. Of course you could use both tall bins. On the right, in front of the drain pipes, I put a 14" wide, 18" deep pullout. I think that there are also 2 tier pullouts that might work (depends on your pipes), but I installed a side wall mounted narrow pullout from Ikea above it (no longer made, I think). So, on this right side, I have my small lidded compost container (actually a small metal trash can), and plenty of room for my cleanser, sponges, rags, dishwasher cleaning tablets, and so on. The smaller, shorter items go at the back of the pullout to not bump the pipes. I keep frequently used tools (screwdriver, tape measure, flashlight) and a few other sundries in the wall mounted bin. I also have a garbage disposal and dish soap dispenser in there. My sink is a Blanco 28" (26" interior width) single bowl, and I love it's roominess.

I wonder if possibly the Heroes get Jerri on their side. It seems that Russell has already gone over. Of course, this may also mean that everyone gangs up against Russell and he is the next to go, but I doubt it.

Oh, you don't believe that Rupert and Colby believe anything that Russell says, do you? I think they know better than that! I hope they know better than that! If Russell doesn't win immunity and doesn't wrangle Sandra's away from her (or find it where she hid it in the forest) then he's probably got a big target on his back.

I hope I hope I hope.....

I just read Jeffs blog. He says Sandra is the "mouthiest" person in survivor history. Really???

Jeff also says Russell woke up & realizes he needs to regain control of the game.

Interesting...

Please send out a reminder to me this Sunday about the finale. I am so afraid I will forget about it.
I just hate who went home tonite and wish it would have been somebody else.
The way Russell talks about women, you would hardly believe he has his wife and twin daughters at home.
He was recently arrested. Link below...
