Bob is home from hospital

He came home Monday evening. He is a lot better, but not 100% yet. Before you read any further, please note that what I'm about to tell you may gross you out, so you may not want to read further.

He had a large mucus plug in his lungs. When they X-rayed him nothing showed up, but when the did the lung scrub they found it. He apparently had a dry spot on his lung that caused the mucus to stick to it instead of flowing out in a normal manner. They got rid of a lot of it, but he is still quite congested. His temperature and blood pressure readings are normal so they let him come home. He is taking antobiotics and also some capsules that make his pee bright blue. I'll tell you a story about that another time.

Oh Linda, I'm so glad he's home. I'm sure he'll recover faster there, and it'll be easier on you (maybe)and Anna. I'm glad they have things under control, and found out what it was.

The nurse came today (Friday), did a quick physical exam and asked about a million questions. She was very kind, recommended six types of therapy/assistance for Vic. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social worker, visiting nurse and -best of all- a home aide several times a week/a few hours at a time. And even better, he's classified "homebound" so they will all come to the house to treat him. Now to start scheduling six visitors-my dog is gonna be bananas!

You will all sleep so much better now that he is home. Nothing like your own bed!

My sister in law spent two weeks in hosp recently. Diagnosed with pneumonia but lungs sounded clear... finally transferred from Collierville hosp to Bapt East where they did some procedure ... maybe lung scrubbing? She was very tired and weak and glad to get home.

Blue pee and all, I'm sure you're glad he's home.
Him too for that matter.

I've never heard of a lung scrub.
Whatever it is I hope it cured your husband!

Exhaling now. It must be a great relief to have him properly diagnosed, treated, and HOME! As you take wonderful care of Bob and Anna, please remember to take care of yourself.

I'm so glad for you both that he's getting better & at home!

But the blue pee is interesting - and would be more so with some snow available!!

Must have missed this post yesterday, Linda. I know that you're both glad and relieved that he's home and doing better. Trust me - a mucus plug in a lung is nothing to somebody that's had two mucus plugs in another area....ROFLMBO

I must have missed your previous posts Linda but I'm glad Bob is home and on the mend.
My Mum has just spent two weeks in hospital with a very bad lung infection. It took until the last day to diagnose it as her chest x-rays were showing that her lungs were clear! She's also very weak and really only came home because the Junior Doctors were going on strike and they had to clear some of the hospital beds.
