Painted paneling in closets - Yay or Nay?

The rooms in my '70s rustic/ranch style house are drywall. Most closets are fakey white paneling. I painted one closet white, and it looks okay to me - you can tell it's painted paneling, but doesn't look bad. I would do that if I knew I'd be living in the house for the foreseeable future.

But that's the thing. We are wanting to put the house on the market next year. I've long since gotten over decorating around a hypothetical future buyer, since we may never be able to sell, but I don't care one way or the other about the closet issue.

I'm cleaning out closets and replacing the organizers over the next few weeks. This would be a great time to paint. But if painted paneling in the closets would be a big problem to buyers, I can delay that project until we have the drywall folks here in a couple of months and they can replace the paneling.

So what would you do? I can post pics if necessary.
