What a coincidence, Cameron. My wife was just telling me two minutes ago that a friend of ours, who runs her own very small business, had a hard drive die, and had no backups of anything at all. You have to feel sorry for people in that situation, yet wonder how they didn't get the word about backing up. As the geeks like to say, "It's not if your HD dies, it's when." Other possibilities that might work for backing up are external hard drives, online (I don't think any are free) backup sites, or even a second computer. I have a laptop on which I have backed up files from my desktop. Chances are they won't both die at the same time. ThinMan

Maybee, yes you are absolutely right. Making the image look smaller does nothing to reduce the underlying file size. However I got the impression in this case that Esteban was just looking to make them small either to show without side scrolling or to get more text into a given size. The link Esteban provided to reduce file sizes is alright unless at some point down the road you wish to print or start reworking the photo. In which case it would be easier to simply reduce the file size in the camera settings before taking photos giving you much more capacity but lesser quality. My camera takes 3 meg photos and I never reduce my originals. If any require emailing I add a number or letter to the end of the photo then reduce that copy for sending. Photos can be reduced with no loss of quality but increasing the resolution degrades a photo.

Normally, you would just save the photo to your computer and then: 1) go to the Walgreens web site and follow the instructions for sending it to them (you will need to register for an online account if you don't already have one); or 2) copy it onto any removable media like a thumb drive and walk it in to the store. Just keep in mind that this photo will only print up ok as an enlargement if you have the original photo file. If the person who sent it to you reduced the file size to make it easier to email, you are going to want to get the full size file sent to you for the best quality photo. Hi, I'm helping Starpooh update the Finished Kitchen Blog over on GardenWeb's Kitchens Forum. It was recently noticed that we can no longer access your pictures. There are a couple of options for getting your photos back onto the FKB. Option#1: Upload your kitchen photos to one of the online photo management applications (photobucket, flickr, picasa, etc.). Remove password-protection from your kitchen album or members will not be able to view your photos. Email the link to me or to Starpooh at starpooh@gmail.com (Many members choose this option because they like managing their own photos.) Option#2: Email all your kitchen photos directly to starpooh and she will upload them onto the FKB's photo album. Her email address is: starpooh@gmail.com. They will be put into a separate folder (similar to outwest's kitchen): http://picasaweb.google.com/starpooh. If, in the future, you decide to remove your photos from the FKB just send an email to starpooh and she will take care of it. (Some members are choosing this option because they don't want to worry about keeping track of their kitchen photos. They also do not need to worry about password-protecting their personal photos.) We would really hate to lose your kitchen!
