Does anyone know of a list of questions to ask the PB i can print

Is there a list anywhere of really good questons to ask on the estimates? Our first bidding is Friday!!! and we are newbies at this. I have been reading all i can but still, I could be missing something!!!

Thanks everyone. Funny that Jane was posting a similar question at the same time (I didn't realize when I saw the name of her thread that she was aiming to copy file names). It worked for me to do control print, then control V into a word document. A little awkward in terms of getting all the details to show - but certainly doable. Mikie - I tried the dragging and dropping. Now that was the kind of solution I wanted. It saves it in a simple list - without all this blank space from the screen shot. What an incredibly helpful tip. The first time I tried saving it I chose as text - but that was a mess. The second time I chose as a web page - is that the correct way to do it? And will it stay on my computer? This brings up a problem I've had but didn't think about asking before. I have often saved webpages - esp. from this forum and the cooking forum. But when I go back to open them up, they present a whole list of different files - like a logo from the page, etc. It's no longer complete and recreatable. Is that because I saved it in the wrong format? I had just recently deleted a couple of these when I thought there was no resurrecting the information. Glad I didn't erase more than a few. So if I want to, say, save this thread, I'd hit file, then save as, and choose web page complete? web page html? text files? or all files? Looking at the mess of files from things I saved in the past, I suspect I chose all files - but I honestly don't recall making a selection (and certainly I didn't understand the selection). This is such a useful way for me to save some information. I don't always just want to bookmark something - esp. those web pages that may not be there when I want to refer to them years down the road. Thanks. Lynn. Thank you. Lynn.

If I may, this is not, by itself, a good indicator. In my area there is a well known pool builder that has CBP accreditation, and whom I contacted when I began the process. However, it didn't take long to eliminate them when I could not find a single customer that did not have a horror with the PB. Two guys in my shop were horrified I had even called the company - both told me the company president cursed them using MF and similar sorts of words when the company's shoddy work was challenged. One guy showed me the paperwork from a civil suit in which the homeowner "won" even though it cost time, some money, and a ton of aggravation to get his pool completed (by another company). So, is it worth something to have it - my guess is yes, but please don't let it substitute for a healthy Caveat Emptor attitude.

What kind of walls for the basement? Poured concrete or mfg panels. Superior Walls is one for mfg panels. Poured concrete? I don't know enough To advise you but I understand the state of Al has a requirement for the Concrete. Maybe the density? You can choose your windows, doors, flooring, paint, of course light fixtures, Bath fixtures. He should give you an allowance for some of these also for Window coverings if you wish. Brick or siding you choose. Paint you choose color and quality. He may buy From the back room if you let him. 2by 4 studs or 2 by 6?for walls. Front door? Do you want to choose? Do you need one bath to be accessible Easier and less costly to have a wide bath door put in now.. I'm rambling? Start at the front door of your plans and walk through the house and see what you like and what you would change. Jo

How long has your staff been with you?
Are you a licensed and bonded contractor?Â(Some states do not require licensing)
Do you have any open or pending legal disputes?
How much and what types of insurance do you have in place?
Are your warranties spelled out in writing?
What exclusions do you have in your warranty?
Do you have pools under construction in my area?
Do you provide service after completion?
Will I be instructed on the operation of my pool?
Do you guarantee that all mechanics liens will be satisfied?
Will your crews clean up their messes?
Do you remove tire tracks from the access?
What time do your crews start work in the morning?
Who is responsible for any damage to the neighborÂs property?
Who will repair any broken irrigation or sprinkler pipes during construction?
Will my sewer or septic lines be affected?
How long will the project take?
What incidental costs will I incur?
Will my driveway or sidewalk be broken by heavy equipment?
Is my electrical service adequate?
