I know exactly what you mean about the 'murky' factor! A deep, complex-neutral undertone that's somehow very much more interesting than 'regular' paint...

Cathedral Gray is one of my very favorite RL shades, but we have it in mainly natural-light situations. Don't know quite what it would do in your bath. But a great color...

Sweeby, I should have just had you draft my post! That is exactly what I need in this bath. The walls are textured and not interesting at all. The bath is a 7' long ally with mundane vanity, copper-framed mirrors on one side, and length of wall with a towel bar on the other. Wood floor is medium dark in red stained oak. I am on the way to HD AGAIN and will see if they have the Cathedral Gray.

I am right now looking a little at my BM Alexandria Beige chip, although it is as dark as the Coastal. Maybe I should just get over my desire to have my makeup look fairly natural in there?

I was going to say how much I love Dixiedo's RL Walnut but it's probably too dark though without natural light. Let us know how this turns out!!

Funny you mentioned the RL Walnut, I did look at that one this time around. I got RH Flax mixed up in Ralph Lauren paint, (I've just tried this paint for the first time ever, mostly because the Lowes' computer crashed and they can't mix paint this weekend...) and tried that on my wall. I loved the color but it was just too dark.

I finally bought paint. I got Ben Moore's Alexandria Beige of all things. It is a little deep, but not overwhelmingly so, and since I changed out my bulbs for a higher wattage of bright light florescents, it looks good in there. I loved this color as I stirred the can. It looked just like coffee with some cream. Kind of like a strong latte. Once it went on my walls though, and dried, the green undertones came through the brown. It's beautiful, and although I loved the coffee look and bought it for that, the green undertone doesn't bother me at all. It looks good off my gold bedroom, in fact, it 'reads' like a deeper shade of the gold looking at it from the door or from the bed.
When I get the mirrors back and the towel bars hung, I will try for a photo, but this room is small. Small. Hard to photograph.

Thanks for checking on me. I was beginning to feel that there was no color that would ever work right in this room.

RL English TAn is Lisa Laportas new favorite shade on Designed to Sell. I am addicted to HGTV and saw an episode a few weeks ago and she mentioned it. Very warm pretty color.

Well shoot...something has got to work for you. Did you ever try BM Lenox Tan? Since you liked the Cappuccino but it was a little too "muddy", I think Lenox Tan is similar. What do you think???

I guess I was a little unclear. I bought the Alexandria Beige and had it mixed in the Ralph Lauren paint. Both the interior and vanity areas of the bath are painted with the AB and I really love the way it looks. It's deep without being overly dark. The copper towel bars and switch plates will look good against this color.

I'm saving the Cappuccino chip for repainting somewhere down the road. If I had tested this one out first, it might have gone throughout much of the house in the areas where I used BM Baby Turtle. It's got similar depth without the sage green. Very nice color.

Ahhh...I read it too fast. I thought it wasn't working with all the green undertones. I must have read it without my glasses! LOL! Well now I'm dying to see it. I know you said it's hard to capture because the room is so small but maybe just the vanity shot like you did on your previous post.

Red, I swatched Alexandria Beige once and loved it too. A very interesting color. Looking forward to your pics!
