Still guessing, but I try to add some more things to do. Do you hear anything when you crank it with the plugs out?? does it hesitate or have a hitch in the rotation when you have the plugs out?? Any hitch or hesitation will be mulitiplied with the plugs in especially if you hear any noise. things I would look for. Remove the starter and look at the bendix teeth, look at the flywheel teeth. Do a compression check (compression should be atleast around 100 PSI). this will tell you that the valve seat and valves are sealing and closing, Doing one cylinder at a time may also narrow the problem down to one or the other if the engine stops rotating when checking compression which may lead to a connecting rod problem. If you got good compression and the engine spins with plugs out and no unusual noises or hesitations and the drive belt and elect pto clutch aren't binding. Then I would suspect the starter, usually starters last quite awhile, but unless your are an electronic's expert your guessing. Starter is a high dollar item unless you find a used one or one on ebay for at least 1/2 price. Before I replace the starter I would go ove the battery cables again checking for any corossion (on the cables internally) and points of contact I would also jump across the starter solonoid to illimate that. I'm out of guesses or procedures unless you come up with something else. If it was me I would try another starter before I tore into the engine unless I found some evidents of a rotating part problem. I not that familar with V-twin Kohlers, but it still should have valve covers (usually the cover can be reinstalled using the old gasket unless you tear if when removing it) which you can remove and watch the valve action when cranking the engine with the plugs out if you have no compression in one cylinder, if you have good compression (in both cylinders) and no noises then the rotating internal part could be ilimated. I know another tool you probably haven't got, but you really have to have basic tools multi-meter, compression kit, vacuum gauge to have a chance to narrow some problems down.

It's September however! Next year I'm going to be sure to go in June, instead, to get the prettiest ones for Sue, Adele and Karen. I may not have any time to write later tonight, Jim, because I have to pack stuff into my Mom's car for Eluane's next trial competition, rearrange my finances, and all the headaches of trying to find a good car replacement. We had a very disappointing trial in that I wanted Eluane so much to be able to qualify. If she had qualified, she would have gotten her ribbon because she is! such a speedy dog. Was sort of hoping to have a turn around of luck and get some sort of good luck, finally. But alas! we will have to keep dreaming and hoping for this. If not on Sunday then we will have to wait for November when the next trials come. Jim my ground-planted roses are surrounded by thyme, oregano, thick clustered meadow sage (2 different kinds) Gigantic Nasturtiums, lavender and Gigantic Scented Geraniums. The roses have very little BS to them, but it's still BS so I am thinking that the other companion plants don't do anything at all. It's only the Gigantic scented geraniums that surround that one Lincoln that may be protecting it. Lincoln is rated susceptible so why it hasn't succumbed yet, is definitely unusual. Yes, I do! know that herbs are only supposed to repel certain insects (aphids). But I just thought it was weird that the one Lincoln is completely pristine out of all my backyard roses. The only thing different is that it is the one plant that is surrounded by the scented geraniums. It's just wild guessing on my part. If that Lincoln ever gets BS it will negate my theory. I'm just guessing so far... Hurray, for brave Bonfire! looks like the Insecticidal Soap saved its bud from being destroyed by those nasty sawfly larvae. Those larvae would have completely eaten up that "juicy" beautiful flower.

Is that vertical growing in the pic? I know that deer fence will work the best but last year for something quick I found a motion sensing sprinkler (Amazon) fairly cheap, quick, and easy to setup. This year I re-arranged some beds to fit into a 20x20ft area then found it would cost me about $300 -400 to do this that way I want to - not including labor or replacing any of the beds. So I think I will go with the motion sprinklers again this year. Harbor Freight also has some motion sensors to let you know when things are moving about so I used both. This is to get my attn. only. IME - once they have found your garden- the deer do remember where to find dinner. IF yours is like mine when she has babies she brings them back to teach them what she found. CON - remembering to turn the sprinkler OFF when going into the garden area. I was smart enuff to set mine up where I can walk up behind it to turn it OFF but there is also a setting so it only goes off in darkness too. Hence the HF motion sensor :)

I cut my cable, so after watching the news (I have an indoor antenna that picks up all my big network stations), I switch to Netflix or Acorn TV (British shows). Fairly new on Netflix, I loved Ozark and Wanted. On Acorn TV, I've watched Australian TV, such as A Place to Call Home, Crownies, Janet King, and now Jack Irish -- all with Marta Dusseldorf. I finished watching George Gently and Doc Martin. A few of these, I had started watching on PBS, but now don't have to wait until they've finished in Britain before airing on my local PBS.
