I gave them to charity, to a Haitian community in Connecticut.

We traded our range with our contractor for some time. We gave him the old laminate counter. We gave the range hood to my husband's daughter. We kept the dishwasher, sink and refrigerator. All of the appliances and the sink were 7 years old at the time.

We are due to start work this Monday!! Called our local branch of Habitat for Humanity. They were very interested in everything we could give them, sink, faucet, dishwasher, microwave hood, light fixtures, etc. Apparently Whirlpool donates a new stove and refrigerator to every Habitat Home so we sold the stove on Craig's List and a neighbor wants the refrigerator.

We had a great vintage fridge (1957 Norge) and that was sold on ebay to a loving new home. Our 2-year-old white Bosch DW is going to my mom, whose 7-year-old builder-grade GE is showing wear. The 5-year-old GE gas range is sitting in the barn right now -- not sure what to do with it. We posted it on Craigslist with no takers. We're having a yard sale in a few weeks and my try to sell it, but if no takers will donate it to Habitat. Or we may just give it to the young couple who bought an old rental house from us. They're a nice couple and would probably really appreciate it. It is a much better stove than the one that was in the rental.

The sink and faucet were ca. 1978 grungy -- we just tossed those. The cabinets that came out intact were placed on Craigslist and Freecycle with no takers, so they went to the dump with the destroyed cabinets.

Gladly paid to recycle the dishwasher & fridge. Will probably do the same with the cooktop & ovens. Though still working they are almost 20 years old, so doubt anyone would want them. Sounds like appliances don't last that long anymore!

I give my discarded usables to charity and keep receipt to declare on taxes. Just contact your local charity, they will arrange pick-up. Lot's of options available for charities and helps to support your city.

Per my daughter's advice I posted them on Craig's List. Gas stove, 25.4 cu. ft. s x s fridge, DW, and OVR micro were mid price range, white, and 5 yrs. old. They were in excellent condition-never had any problems with any of them. Hope I don't regret this decision to get rid of them! I got tons of offers and happily sold them all to one buyer-a young couple who had just bought their first house and didn't have much money left over to buy all new appliances. The woman, who came with her dad to see them before buying, was so excited. I'm a fool for keeping my stuff very clean so those appliances looked almost brand new. DH and I felt good being able to help this nice couple out plus what I got for them paid for half of my new stove.

My new stainless ones were delivered yesterday and I'm already wiping them down with my micro fiber cloths-think I'm going to miss the easy to keep clean white ones!!

I gave my cabinets, countertops, refrigerator, microwave
and dishwasher to a friend who is going to redo her kitchen. She will also get the stove, when I get my new one. Threw out the faucet and dont know what I'll do with old sink.

I always call my local zoo to see if they need them. They are so happy to have them, they pick up and bring letter for taxes. Over the years, I've donated a dishwasher, chipper/shredder, W/D and a SxS fridge.

Sold some on craig's list, donated some and the really old stuff no one wanted the ciy recycled.

Donated fridge to local Animal Shelter. Gave range to someone on freecycle.

Craigslist for the ones that worked, trash for the ones that didn't (which was most of them)

Sold all our 16 year old appliances on Craig's List (Range, microwave, dishwasher, even the kitchen sink). We kept the refrig for overflow. Most of our cabinets went to my brothers' summer camp for extra storage, we kept a few for storage in the garage.

Habitat Re-store is the way to go if the appliances are in good working order. Some of them also accept cabinets and leftover construction materials. You can get a tax deduction for a portion of the resale value. That might work out to more than you'd make on Craig's List or a garage sale. Especially if you factor in your time and the aggravation factor.

For non-working appliances, I have left them out for the monthly bulk-trash pickup and every time they have been collected by appliance scavengers before the garbage truck comes around. I no longer feel guilty about it because they never seem to make it to the landfill!
