Hi, everyone!

I'm having withdrawl symptoms from the KT. We have fast internet, so I'm taking advantage of it. Here are a few of the pics I've taken so far. We've taken way too many to post.

We met Patti & Denny at the railroad museum, stopped to see the second golden spike, then went to thier house for dinner. Great hosts! Patti made Chili Rellenos(sp?) and Chicken and Broccoli casseroles and salad for us. We had a great time.

We've had a great time so far. We had to hole up after we saw Patti because the wind was so strong it was too hard to drive.

Nice pictures....well except the one of me....Gosh that's awful....it's bad enough to be fat but I look like the wreck of the Hesperus too....lol

Sandy...now I see how you got those bottles empty....She sent them to me so I can sometime get my blue bottle tree made....Thanks and to the rest of you who helped empty them....lol

I've never lived there. Just passed through year after year going to So. Dak. Nice in summer, cold in winter. Usually stayed in Rawlins or Rock Springs, then up to Casper & stayed in Douglas, corner of Neb & up into So. Dak. DIL has sis in Gillette now & they like it. Used to have DH's cousin in Rock Springs & they liked it but of course raised in So. Dak. so used to cold weather but moved there from Costa Mesa so we didn't think they would like it but they did. In the area mentioned they had lot of strip mining for coal(I think) & had problems getting the hills looking good again as it is just as it says-strips everything bare. But they were working to replant with trees so that was 20 years ago so they should have filled in by now. It's hilly most of that route & green & saw lot of cattle & some horses. Have been in Cheyenne but don't remember anything about it. Not a lot of help but you could try Tourism in Wyo. & I'll bet they have some pics. Probably send you a packet of info. Good Luck!! Jan

Aaron - does look like a lot of fruit set, hope it tastes good. Can you post a pic of your BKs? sharonie - it's a lot of work, hard to do by myself. DH helps with hammering things into our rocky ground and mowing/weedwhacking, but I start all the seeds, do all the transplanting, weeding, mulching, watering, pruning, harvesting and marketing. DS helped me pack, set up, and tear down at a few markets last year but he's getting older and getting busy (mostly Scout stuff this summer), next summer he might have a job (counselor at Scout camp) so I'm really thinking I have to start a CSA. Oh, and I counted - besides 200 tomatoes and 96 peppers in the ground, I've got 13 tomatoes in pots (and 2-6 more I'd like to pot up for my cousin), and some suckers trying to root in water before potting up since I only have 1 Sungold and 1 Black Cherry another GWer gave me and I'd like more, 1 long sucker was broken this AM so I trimmed it back, think I can get 3 plants out of it. 8 peppers in 4" pots I want to sell at market, 6 overwintered peppers in pots that need to be potted up, 183 bean plants plus a dozen or so cukes (didn't count), a couple of yellow squash (that haven't even flowered yet), 3 cantaloupe and 3 watermelon plants (not growing much), I think 6 zukes. Cilantro is bolting, dill is ahead of cukes so seeded more, just seeded basil but it rained that night so probably all washed away (I did sneak out and mulch it the other day), and as soon as there is a break in sight I will seed kale, chard, and Asian greens. Oh, and more carrots (I only put in two 12ft rows b/c I thought last week was a little early but now I might be behind - at least the carrots are going in the tunnel so a little late doesn't matter). I posted a pic of what I think is same BK plant with 4 good sized fruit on it on the Golden Tomato Prize thread. Not a good pic here (was trying to get more of a shot of peppers, sweet non-bells are closest to camera) but this morning the soon-to-be tunnel looked like this: Had to tie up a few more at the far end, need to get some small 3-ring cages for some determinates on left side far end, but the indeterminates in the middle are getting pretty bushy. I did prune some last week but the past few days of rain have caused everything to just explode - and I think I've got some EB in there. Once it dries out (raining again now, too wet this AM though clear) I've got a lot more pruning and weeding and mulching and spraying to do. I have to get those lamb's quarters off the sides of the mounded bed and staple the fabric that's in the aisles down coming up the sides of the bed - the hay keeps sliding off. Sitting here in tears, tears of happiness. I truly love you all. I am sending out HUGE but gentle hug's to you all. Thank you for caring for me and always finding a way to brighten my days. I truly don't have a mean bone in my body, and would never intentionally hurt someone. I'm a lover, not a fighter, smiles. Please do not feel sorry for me, as I was fortunate to have the best parents in the world, and now they are home, together, with the Lord. There will be no more suffering or sadness for them. Missing them just reminds me of how great they loved me, how great I love them. My mom has been gone 6 months now, but some days, it seems like I just spent time with her, or talked to her on the phone, or had just [picked greenbeans out of the garden with her. Then there are the days that it seems like I haven't seen here in sooo long. Those are the days I miss her the most. Jan, you had a shoulder for me during my moms illness, and then thru her death. I will be forever grateful my dear friend. MaryEllen (Mellen), you have been my rock my dearest friend. I love you so much more that I could ever show or express. I plan to spend many, many years cherishing our friendship. Carol, my new friend. The gal who will always set things right, and will always extend her arms for a loving hug. The one who can always make you giggle unexpectedly. I have studied how she works, and she is my RR role model :-) You are a very fair and caring person. Thank you for your wonderful friendship. I can't believe you ladies are still carrying on! Karen...What made you think I was drinking? Was I slurring...drooling...typing irratically? Oh.. I did notice I called you the new 'Holiday Vignette Ambassador'.. but then I left off the 'H' when abbreviating your new title! I guess that was a dead give away! You're still not off the hook.. punk...poor girl.. it's hard to have fun and unwind while trying to run a Business...but two! geesh It's good that you 'step away' and try to clear your head every now and then..and this definitely is the place for it. The ONLY way to help with that is to get you to think about a little vignette.. and as someone on this site said... go shopping in your cabinets to put something together. We've got plenty of time till you're ready. I saw your fall decorations and will comment on there... I did see LOTS of wonderful stuff in your cabinets too! Oh..and on helping you and Karen w/your Decorating...I'm on a deadline now...and I need help! I'm doing our Christmas Family Reunion and it's the week after Thanksgiving... so I've got to get hopping with dragging all the decorations out and have everything done.. yikes..wasn't it just summer a few weeks ago??? jane

Patti, you are beautiful! I don't want to hear that again. When you told me your age, I couldn't believe it! I hope to look that good in a few more years.

If you want to stow away, about the only place left is in the truck. Not too comfortable, and can get cold or hot!

Actually Patti, we only went through one of the blue bottles that evening...the other was a clear bottle! LOL AND some of those came from Caryn's house too!!! =) I am sure we will have more to send with Linda when she comes in August! (depending on the date...I may tag along with Linda!)

Wow, look at you driving. If I had to I could drive our rig but I only like to drive on lesser highways. I'm just not that comfortable driving it. I keep thinking about how much repairs would cost if I hit something. LOL

We are in Manilla, UT now. We've seen Red Canyon and the Sheep Creek Geological Loop. Tomorrow, we'll do Vernal and the Flaming Gorge Dam. On Thurs, we are off to Evanston, and get to see Lori!!!!!

I can't drive the rig in the wind. I just don't have the strength to hold it on the road. If it isn't windy, it's easy! If you have ever driven a full size van or pickup, you can drive this. It's just a little wider and longer. The rear camera helps alot. It's almost like having a rear view mirror.

I still am not used to mountain time. I was awake at 6 this morning. And the elevation is a whole lot higher than this flat lander is used to. Inhaler night tonight. I feel much better now. Of course, all the dust I inhaled in western Iowa hasn't helped, either.

We are really having a great time. I'll try to keep posting, at least. May not get pictures uploaded to p. bucket to share, but at least, if I have internet, I can post.

We start work June 2nd in the prep lab at the Thermopolis, Wyoming Dinosaur center. The whole area is pretty interesting. If you happen to get to that area be sure to stop by the lab (we work in front of big windows) and I will give you a tour of the lab. We will be there until about the second week of July. Then we will be off to camp in Yellowstone for a week. Just ask in the gift shop for me or knock on the window of the lab.
