Help! Advice needed on granite for creamy white kitchen
Comments (1)I am deciding the same thing right now. I am getting creamy white cabs and have a large island. I love both of the granites you found. I am probably going to do my island in a cherry wood, and can't decide to go light or dark granite on the perimeter. I haven't seen many pictures with two different granites, but have seen a lot with wood and granite. I'll be interested to hear what the rest of the group thinks....See MoreKemper vs. Dynasty (made by Omega) painted white cabinets
Comments (5)We have Dynasty cabinets by Omega, painted white (oyster, with a caramel glaze, very subtle). They are not shaker style, but they are very well made, and we are extremely happy with them. Also, all dealings with the company (through our KD) were smooth and fast, and all of the cabinets were delivered on time and in excellent condition (no returns). They were packed well, and all finishes were perfect. We did add a few trim pieces, in addition to adding a banquette, and all pieces, although ordered later, arrived pretty quickly, and the finishes were consistent with the main cabinet order. We also have an alder island from Dynasty, and it is beautiful. From our experience this past summer, I would recommend Dynasty. I have no experience with Kemper. Good luck to you!...See MoreHas anyone used Dynasty (by Omega) inset cabinets?
Comments (9)I have Omega custom entirely, but I do have inset shaker style doors with a bead. I love them, they're gorgeous and wonderful quality. I'm not sure if your dealer has mentioned it, but you can mix Dynasty and Omega if you need something that Dynasty does not have (Buehl did this). Use Dynasty for the bulk of your cabs and then do the island in the black from Omega (they do an antiqued black finish and can do it on any door that either dynasty or omega make). On a personal note, I'm totally against the island in a different color as I think this will be a dated thing soon, but if you have the right kitchen, and are shooting for an unfitted look, than do the island in a totally different finish and door style that flows well with the others to make the look make sense. If you don't...well that's ok too :) It's your kitchen! These are all unfinished pics...sorry: As to the custom verses dynasty or omega...If I lived in the lower 48 (ok i forgot, I now do LOL) I would use a custom cabinet maker as they would be cheaper than the Omega custom kitchen and probably easier to deal with, but in Alaska, I had less options. Either way, I don't think you'll regret dynasty or omega...they're both lovely (the difference is higher end finishes and totally custom for omega by the way, but the same company makes both). If you look at Buehl's kitchen you'll see that the two are seamless when mixed...See MoreCreamy white cabinets - how to coordinate wall color and ceiling color
Comments (7)I'm not a color expert, but I have 2 kitchens each with different shades of white painted cabinets, so I'll offer thoughts based on my experience. For our lake build I wanted a crisp white cottage look that would complement the blue stained island. I was planning on going with the whitest white option. My KD convinced me, as yours did, not to go with stark white. Like you, I was worried it would read creamy, but I'm glad I followed her advice. The cabs positively read clean white in the room. We did go with the stark white with the bathroom vanity and, as she had said, it lacks the richness and depth that the kitchen ones do and looks less like wood and more like a builder grade cab. We did go with a warmer shade on the walls in the open area of the kitchen and I think that helps them stand out as being more white. I wanted a completely different feel in my home and chose creamy cabinets. In both homes I have standard white ceiling paint. This is where the color experts may advise differently, but to my eye it works just fine in both spaces because the ceiling & cabs are on different planes & with the play of shadow & light the whites don't seem to fight in either case. Hope this helps as you sort it out....See Morekitellie49
