Help! Advice needed on granite for creamy white kitchen

Sorry, my photos aren't showing up in the message preview. Not sure why. A link to the photo album is at the bottom of this message.

DH and I are planning a kitchen remodel with creamy white cabinets (Merillat Masterpiece's Canvas paint color).

This is our layout. The wall opens up to the dining room in front of the island to the right of the fridge. To the left of the oven, we will have a nook with a table and lots of light. Ceilings are a little over 8 feet tall.

We are probably going with this white quartzite, that the granite place calls "White Pearl."

These are the questions that I could use help on:

1. Do you think it would be too much white to have this granite in the island, perimeter countertops, and full height backsplash?

2. What do you think of having the island in White Pearl and the perimeter in this brown granite they are calling "Buff Brown"?

I'm trying to go for softer contrasts, so this brown appeals to me more than having a black perimeter. It's a polished material, though. I've never seen anyone do acontrasing perimeter counter in a polished material, and I suspect there's a reason why!

3. Any ideas for pendants for over the island?

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks very much!
