what does your spa drain look like?

We were plastered today and all the fittings and drains were installed. After all of the workers left I noticed what I assume is the drain in the spa. It is a big black 8-10 inch square piece of metal (which is raised- a toe stubber). It is screwed it with silver screws- it's really UGLY and obtrusive. What does your spa drain look like? I will ask my pool builder if this is permanent but since we filled the spa I can't see how it would be changed... is this really my drain??

Most drain covers are plastic. If it's a metal grate, then it is most likely bronze(don't see many of those anymore). Usually the PB tries to match the grate colors with what goes best with the plaster colors. Almost all drain covers used in spas have that toe stub you mentioned. This design helps prevent entrapement and is pretty standard across the country.
Most of your questions will be answered after the start-up when you are given your walk-thru, or "pool school" as some on this site call it. Good luck.

My spa drain is exactly like my pool drain. It is almost flush with the bottom, round, about 8" in diameter. Mine is white plastic. I know they come in other colors. In order for your builder to use this style he would have needed to add the sump part of the drain before the gunite was done. Then after the plaster is applied the cover screws on making it almost flush. No toe stubbing.

I love mine - its an old one from Jackson Perkins. It looks rough right now, we just survived "Snowmageddon" where temps got to 3. It was horribly cold all week. It is still alive - a big bush - and I am waiting to see what other tiny leaves come out on it before I start pruning it. Smells divine and has been a hardy rose for me. I may get another one just it case. One of my favorite whites.

Madreselva they all look great! My peppers are doing wonderfully and are lush with a ton of fruit on them right now. My tomatoes are about done except a volunteer cherry that came up late and now looks wonderful and is bearing some fruit. New England Asters just peaked, I have two mums that survived from last year (a white and a yellow). 'Black and Blue' Salvia looks awesome......blooming like crazy with its purple, almost surreal flowers. Pots of tuberous begonias are bright colors. Darn, I did not save or plant Dahlias this year. Yours look great!!

I've also only had it like the picture Olychick posted. I have made it a couple of times and the recipe I used called for stacking in a glass cake pan, so no rounded ends. It was my daughter's favorite dessert until she found she was celiac. I ought to find some gluten free ladyfinger cookies and see if I can make a passable one. Annie

This is my 4 year old 30” Platinum which needs to be cleaned. DH stir fryed in the wok on the front left burner tonight and last night he seared 2 steaks. Usually we do the steaks outside on the grill but we had heavy rain and wind. We cook every day and aren't too concerned with keeping it spotless. I'm sure you can see the grease spots and crumbs which will clean up easily. I'll probably take the grates off tomorrow and wash them in the sink with Dawn. I don't think the cast iron has developed unsightly discoloration. There are some scratches on the stainless front which happened recently. I tried to move a hot, heavy cast iron skillet and could only use one hand - the other hand was sprained and I ended up setting the skillet on the front bib. We also have a 6month old 30" RNB at our vacation home on an island. I'll post a photo but that one doesn't get the heavy use that this one does. Having trouble posting photos - I'll try again.
