What Have You Been Doing This Weekend?

We are having a cookout at Amber and Mike's at noon. I have cleaned the strawberries, have the sugar cookies baked and have a peach pie with sugar cooky crust in the oven. We will have a lot of other foods too.
Yesterday I went to church with Cheryl we also watched Alyssa a couple of times. She is so much fun. It rained quite a lot last night and will probably get some rain today. I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend.

Saturday night I went to church. Yesterday I worked 8 hours and we were busy. Other than that not much of anything else. I wishThat I could visit the cemetaries but they are in ND. I think a lot of my parents because they both passed away this week. Its is 5 years ago for my mother and 4 years ago for my dad. I think of all of the veterans. I have had a lot of relatives who served including 3 of my brothers my dad in WW11 and my husband in Viet Nam. So it is kind of a sad time for me.

Worked in the yard on Saturday. Husband was at Wal-Mart doing his clowning, helping the Police who were doing ID Kits for Children. Church yesterday,out to dinner and then we went fishing off the pier. There were a lot of people there. I just people watched. I enjoy watching the children. Husband caught one fish.I saw quite a few Dolphins. The sunset was beautiful! My daughter Sheri came up and she took pictures of the sunset. It was relaxing and cool. Not doing much today. Just missing my relatives. Remembering the ones who were in the service. Dad was in the Navy and was in World War 2. My husband was in the Navy. My brother was in the Army. Thinking of all who have served and praying for the ones who are serving now,and their families.

I know I posted before on this thread, but gotta share with you what my family and I did today. Well, let me start back a couple weeks ago when the city came out and took up the front sidewalk and replaced it. I had planting beds right up against it with those landscape timbers, so had to pull those out and also move some plants to the back until we got things back in order. They finished the sidewalk - did a beautiful job and still needed to replace the edging. Well, thank goodness for direct depost tax refunds! We went out and bought two truckloads of what the stoneyard calls "Panhandle dry stack" and laid those out as edging along the beds and down the sides of our property line. We didn't have enough to go all the way down one side, but will need to get one more truckload to finish that later on. Next step is putting the plants back in the ground and we should get that done tomorrow. So, what I did in the garden today, along with husband and my three boys was to lay stone edging. Gosh, I am tired tonight! I should sleep really well. Okay - time for bed since we're supposed to set our clocks an hour ahead this weekend.

My 55th reunion is next weekend. How many have you been to?

I've only been to the ex's 10 year reunion. Neither of mine. I got an invitation to the first one but didn't go. Was over in Germany and didn't really want to go back, was very shy in school and had very few friends. I did buy a reunion book but they never sent it to me. I sent in my information about my life up to that point, for that book to be included, but who knows if they included me in there. I never got my 20th reunion invite. I went to Hawaii that summer but my dad lives in the same house he did when I was in high school so there shouldn't have been any reason they couldn't track me down. I assume they had a reunion that year but not really sure. A few years ago, around the time I went to Hawaii in fact, I got two friend requests on Facebook from old high school classmates. I was kind of friends with one, but not at all with the other. I accepted their requests, didn't want to be rude but they both have since unfriended me. LOL.

On Sunday I was treated to a delightful day out. My DD, my DGD and her DH and my 11 year 0ld DGGS took me to the Riverside Center Dinner Theater, in Fredericksburg, VA. a pleasant two hour drive from here. The Center was built for the purpose and it is just lovely, with beautifully set tables, cosy lighting and tiered seating, so everyone has a good view of the stage. Some of the waiters are also actors in the play. The play? The Phantom! I have seen the movie (twice) but this production is based on Gaston Leroux's novel The Phantom of the Opera, which is considered by critics as eminently equal to its more famous Andrew Lloyd Webber's version. I have to admit my ignorance in that I did not know that, and I also learned that there was a movie in 1943, with Claude Rains, and Nelson Eddy. This was the most gratifying day I've had for a long time. I had had a rough time from January to May, health wise, and I'm still dealing with some of it. Everyone is working hard already. Soon I'll need to get out there too - winter vacation is over for us gardeners! I went to the hardware this morning and bought a carbon monoxide detector and a carbon monoxide/gas detector. Put the first one in my bedroom and the second in the kitchen. Been feeling so lousy with allergies this Spring, the worst ever. Plus the weather here today is grey and dreary and chilly, so that doesn't help. Mostly I just lulled about until time to take both cats to the vet for shots. The youngest one at 21mos. has never been to the vet except when neutered at six months by a lo-cost spay/neuter clinic that makes the rounds of communities so many times a year. I wasn't even sure I'd get him into the carrier, but I was sneaky. I already had a carrier hid in the bedroom. Then I picked him up and covered his face with my hand and before he knew it he was being put into the carrier. He was not happy! He thought he could dig his way out. lol But he was surprisingly good at the vet's, didn't act all wild or anything. He was give a leukemia shot and has to go back in three weeks for a booster. I never heard of that before, but apparently if a cat has never had one before it has to be "boosted" later. Then while checking out the other cat's teeth, the vet noticed both his big canines on top were broken off! More than likely from fighting, even tho he is neutered he still gets into brawls with other toms. He showed me where dark spots could be seen in each tooth, which were the blood supply. Because this makes them prone to infection, they need to be pulled. ugh. I told him I needed a little time to save up for the surgery. Came home and basically lazed about on the sofa for the rest of the afternoon.

Cleaning and putting the house back in order. We had our dear neighbor scrub all of our carpeting and of course everything had to be moved. I've been dusting, cleaning windows, washing things and getting everything put back where it belongs. So this has been a spring cleaning weekend at my house. Two more rooms to do and then I will be done.

My weekend began Friday at noon when my laptop decided to go on strike at a client site. Their IT person was stumped so I headed home and spent the next 12 hours troubleshooting in hopes of making the client's deadline. At 2:30am I thought I had solved the problem and headed to bed because I had to get up at 6:30am for a half day photo class. In which remarkably I stayed awake.

Started to work on client's project Saturday evening only to discover I was still having issues with my design software and finally got a pop-up message telling me to contact the manufacturer. I did that Sunday morning and finally was up and running again. Finished the client's work and headed over to some friend's home for dinner and some relaxation. Got home last night about 10pm and crashed.

Today we have our annual Memorial Day block party (at our house). That will go until about 8pm. Then, back in the trenches tomorrow.

Well unfortunately hubby has to work today so it was pretty much a normal weekend for us.
Saturday the big garden centers here were having a wonderful half off every plant sale so I went and got a ton of plants for my front bed, time to get that thing going again, then stopped at a few other places, on to dinner out.
Sunday we worked on planting the front bed but it was really hot so it took all day and is not all done yet, I didn't want my husband to have a stroke out there digging!
Then it was grocery shopping time and pick up something for dinner. That is it.
I did pickup some babyback ribs I will do for dinner tonight.

Finally got the flowers planted and DD got the garden in. Very sore muscles yesterday. Did it between rain and drizzles. Today went to local program put on by American Legion. Person from Air Base spoke with a good overall perspective of past, present and future from the Air Force. Good turnout.
May go out later to lunch.

Saturday was a "freeday" for us. Sunday, went to a friend's and took photo's of their new baby. This afternoon will go to another friend's house to discuss videographing their wedding.

I went on a bike about with some friends. three days of cycling, two nights at lakes camping and I am back home.

My daughter had a baby on Saturday - a little girl. First time grandparents here. So we camped and saw the baby - Saturday & Sunday and today I'm bringing her some food so she doesn't have to cook for a couple of days (or she can freeze it for when her DH is out of town - which is often). So I get to see baby again!

We went south on Friday and just got home a short while ago. I cleaned up the grown up grass around the house and helped hubby unload some wood strips for his barn. He was busy cutting down a tree and cutting the strips on his sawmill. Did some heavy cleaning in the house. I had not been down since after Christmas and with the guys all there each weekend to hunt it was quite the mes. Glad to be home...
