Are You or Are You Attending A Cookout Toay?

We are going to Cheryl and Kevin's around 1 today for a cookout. I guess it is the first this year for us to have one. I am taking apple salad, coleslaw, deviled eggs, potato salad, Oh My Goodness Bars, French Vanilla cake and iced tea. It is for her Dad's birthday. She is going to serve Nathan's hot dogs for one thing. We have never had them before as they haven't been in most stores around here. Anyone else going to or having a cookout today?

My DH & I are DJing a car show all weekend. Tonight I'm baking car-shaped cakes for chances & bread for a bake sale. We've volunteered at car shows ever since we first got together 14 years ago. We have games for the kids & adults, contests, rod jousting, a burnout competition, trophies & a dance in the evenings. We have a 1960 Chrysler Imperial & a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite (both unfinished) & an 03 Dodge Caravan with painted flames. We'll go to our city park to watch the fireworks (50% chance of rain here). Some years, we have fireworks at the car show. Have fun Karyn, I keep forgetting to get your stamps. We have a Jack Nicholson golf course at Rocky Gap State Park, maybe your husband would like to play there & we could visit. Golf = boring to me, too. Linda

breakfast at ds1...we're also celebrating dgd's bday...don't know if anyone else is coming...one dd already had plans to go out on fil's boat...that's just fine with us. they don't see them as often as we do...the other kid in town may have to go up north to see his fil, again ok..and the last dd1 we're seening them the next weekend...or they might have to go to his dads..his mom has been sick... i already bought dh a new radio for the shower...had to lol..his shower looks like he could live in there...only thing missing is a bench...

Martinca, I will never forget an article once in one of the very chi-chi decor magazines, about a woman and her decorator who remodeled her private jet(!). The line that will live in my mind was one of those obnoxious humblebrag little jewels along of the lines that the Mrs. 'just wanted a new bathroom cabinet with a drawer for her makeup on the jet'. Oooooookay ;). As for us, we had a wonderful 4th. We're down in the Keys house for the week; my daughter and her lifelong BFF (we think of her as our second girl) are down from DC-fun fact, it's been cooler in Florida than where they live!-and my DIL had the day off so was here too-son had to work. My sister came down and we went to the local parade which happens to stage and launch literally at the end of our block so a coupla folding chairs and bingo, morning entertainment. Then another friend of daughter's drove down, my dad spontaneously decided to come as well and we also had my cousin, her husband, his sister and BIL who sailed their boat down for the holiday week. Some folks went out diving while others lounged beside or in the pool. We did a simple cookout, and by early evening some of the young folks went out to party and see fireworks, the local visitors went home, my sister decided to stay overnight and a wonderful time was had by all. This house has turned out to exceed our wildest hopes as a gathering spot for holidays so another lovely memory of a perfect day is in the books.

We went to a friend's last night for a BBQ. We took deer brats with jalapeno and cheddar cheese. Way too spicy for me, but our friend ate 3!! Tonight we are BBQing burgers for just our family.

Sue... you'd be a great person to invite for dinner! I wouldn't have to cook anything with all that you bring. lol

No, damp and miserable here, too. Sundays are our day to clean the country house and pack up for the trip home. We do have $10 off coupons for a restaurant we like, so will probably stop there on the way home for dinner.

WE marinated ribs all night, DH hasn't decided whether to just grill them or smoke them. It's just us, so ribs, salad and a baked potato will be plenty.

When I say it's 'just us' you should automatically know that includes the seven dogs who will be laying across our feet, behind our chairs, draped over each other, watching out of the corner of their eyes to see what happens to the bones. LOL

My DS and DIL are having a cookout this evening and expecting around 50 guests. They are all my ex husbands family. I haven't decided if I'm going or not. If I stay home I'll probably grill something for Jammer, Chad and myself.

DH just took chicken off the grill. We are feeding DD#2, her DH and his son. They are over here putting in a new doggy door for us...I am so excited! Never had one before, and hopefully I will get to sleep the whole night through without getting up to let the dogs out....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Just finished eating a grilled burger.I made them and DS cooked them.MMM.....they were good.They were made with Black angus meat.Very good.Never had it before cause it's expensive.They were worth it.
