Good Morning On Wednesday

Good Morning everyone! It is nearing 70 here in central Indiana. I am hoping it doesn't rain. Today is shopping day with Amber and Alyssa. Alyssa is really growing. Yesterday she weighed 9 pounds and 14 1/2 ounces. She gains about an ounce a day. Lots of yard work has been going on here, a big task as we mow around 3 or 4 acres. The girls and I have been to some gardening stores this week. I got a few plants for my half barrels and a couple of large tomato plants to plant here. I also bought a flat of tomatoes for Amber and Mike to plant in their garden. I also picked out a couple of shrubs for one of my places that needs a lot of things planted in it. I also got an old fashioned lilac bush for Mother's Day and it will be planted there too. Different things are blooming and the poppies are in big bud today as well as the iris. Izzi got to go on her first big rig ride of the season. Are you planting anything this season? Hope your weather is good where ever you are. Got to run, lots to do.

Yes you have plenty to do. Glad everyone is okay. Going to plant 6 tomato plants this afternoon. I'm in Long Island NY. It's only 55 and cloudy, supposed to be nicer this afternoon. First taking hubby grocery shopping, then to Walmart to maybe buy a new VCR. Our old one croaked. See ya later!

Wish we could but with the cold weather and too much rain, trees still not out yet, and ground super wet with lots of standing water.
But here not too many people even think gardens until June 1st. Good luck to the rest of you.

Thanks Tammy, I do think the defense will go ok though it will be very stressful. I'm not sure which way I'll end up doctoring in the end -- I used to think neurosurgery, and it's still really high on my list but I've been out of the hospital too long to feel very confident about predicting... chances are I'll be a specialist of some type. I'll try to remember to announce the defense over on conversations when I have a date. (or I can send you a blog invite, though you may not want to wade through my miscellaneous ruminations!)

I only have experience with Heavenly Blue MG's and they did not do well in a pot. They did indeed insist on climbing and then I think they just ran out of root space because they suddenly stopped growing and flowering.

Our ugly southerly (Kona) winds have departed, pushed away by northerly breezes. We even got some rain out of this. It was about 60F last night; will get to 77F today, bright and sunny. I'm trying to get an uninterrupted night's sleep -- not yet, with the pneumonia (and the prednisone). Amazing, with just the two of us in the little condo, but I have three loads of wash to do this morning. DH will go to the store later to pick up a prescription cough syrup -- and restock on Kleenex! At least I have a nice ocean view (with whales) as I recuperate. Honolulu news reports another small Japanese skiff (18-20 ft.) found off Oahu. Debris from the earthquake continues to wash up in the islands -- mostly on Big Island.

I planted 2 rhubarbs and I have a tomato I need to put in it's Topsy Turvey planter. I also put a sweet basil in a pot on my deck. It was 95 yesterday and too hot to work in the yard. This morning is cooler and it has been sprinkling so it is humid.

I had to work five of the last 6 days. I'm off for four now and going to be busy. I have tomatoes and flowers to plant along with a few other things. I also have to study for a class for work on Monday and clean the house out.

I'm smiling from ear to ear!! I just picked the first ripe tomatoes from my Early Girl tomato plants!! Didn't have many, but it will be enough for a salad. I'm soooo tired of buying those tasteless things at the grocery store!
