I cant believe I am actually submitting my kitchen. Thanks to all who have answered questions, Bill Vincent, for all your grout advice. Jamielo, (you were my original inspiration) and Elizpiz, your backsplash blew my mind. Our house is 1950's so if anyone remembers the original mint green tile and black linoleum. Hi mommabear... You are so welcome.. Your kitchen came out beautiful! I hope to see more pictures of it...Maybe some close-ups of your Sienna Bord...It looks like a very warm and inviting place for you and your family to congregate.. I hope you are happy with your sink too..I have had no issues and it's been almost a year. If you get any white spotting, (like I do) from hard water..just rub some CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) remover on them with green scrubbie. CLR can be found at the supermarket. Did you post this on the discussion side as well? I'm sure others would love to see it and there's alot more traffic on that side. Enjoy your lovely new kitchen! KA:)

I purchased the lights through AD Cola in Natick, MA. (website www.adcola.com). ; They ordered them and had them drop shipped directly to me at a bit of additional cost, but we were under the wire and needed them quickly. Hudson Valley Edison collection in old bronze (semi-flush mount)- Adjustable Monopoint Pendant by Hudson Valley. I did order different glass shades. The semi flush mount over sink is 18-OB-R08, the pendants are 9341-OB the glass shades are GS-00560-CR. From the wall the stove is on to the china hutch wall is 20ft from the kitchen sink wall to the basement stair wall is 12 1/2 feet. Did you click on the above photo's? It will take you to a link with all the different photo's of the kitchen. There is an outlet right across from the fridge. If I were to do it again I would put a second one under the table on the other side. (laptop use) Still LOVE my kitchen - :-) Thanks CJC

RM :( I'm so sorry to read your son is still challenged. And more so to see you're on the horrific "diagnostic" road trip literally. I wish there was something that could be done to blow that danged road up....I don't miss it and hate hearing anyone is traveling it. I can only hope you have a short trip! Virtual hugs in the biggest of ways hun! I have only this advice, learned in year three of that road....carry a big purse and a wine opener. You'll be a friend to many a parent if you lock the door to the parent room and crack open a bottle quietly :) Screw tops can be your friends as well. (And for those horrified that one would drink in a hospital...you haven't spent months in one I guarantee). A quiet glass of wine at 11 when the kids are finally asleep and it's marginally quiet (only the sickest kids are making noise that never goes away, soft cries of pain...that glass of wine alone in the dark while you thank god that's not your child every so often is a peace you don't understand). Enough of that....back to the chickens! hm here's a photo of just the backsplash uninstalled. We framed it in nordic black antique granite to make it fit the space it's in (Joe the tile guy rocked!) So the funny thing is....I've had to move (because of my son's health we had to leave alaska) so we have a new house and two kitchens to remodel/build LOL So I get to start planning all over again :) I can't wait to start from the beginning all over again....(which makes you wonder if I do crack does it not? I can't afford it, I have to finance another kitchen LOL). Star thanks for the nag. I missed the first one :) (You're good LOL) I'll work on the worksheet over the next couple of days. :)

Julie the pass through was there when we bought the house. We have company all the time so we do use it. I like it because I can see/talk to people in the other room and it doesn't make the kitchen so closed off. My husband's fave part is the tv which he recessed into the wall. It pulls out and swivels both ways. I swear - the men, they love a good gadget. Believe it or not, I get more compliments on the new blinds which are plastic! I gave them a lot of thought because I wanted an option that let the most light and air from outside without allowing neighbors to see me inside. I found them on the Bali website - they have them in all different patterns. At night they GLOW beautifully from outside and people ask me about them all the time. And they were CHEAP! I think around $150 from Home Depot for my bay window. Thanks again for the kind words. Tammy

Just gorgeous!

Your cabinets are stunning - I think you've shown natural cherry at it's finest. And the backsplash is perfect. You have great natural light.

Is that a pull-out landing space under your microwave in the pantry - great idea!

My choices are similar - I can only hope my kitchen is so beautiful. What is your paint color? How high are your ceilings?

Congratulations, tateland! That is a beautiful kitchen, and for some reason it makes me want to jump on a plane and head to Colorado. The wood, stone and SS have a stunning effect! My favorite detail is the card-sized drawers. Are those for recipes?

Oh, that's nice. Selfishly, I'm so pleased to see a warm cabinet/warm floor combination -- you have the same cherry flat & shaker drawer fronts I have, which I absolutely adore. How do you like your iMac station?

Wonderful job. I love the warmth in your choice of colors and materials. That backsplash was worth waiting for! I also think your granite is a good balance for the stone in the backsplash - did you go with a thicker-than-normal slab? It looks substantial.

Very pretty! My cherry cabs will be a tad bit darker, but I'm thinking of granite sort of like yours, so it's nice to see another kitchen done like that. I love the backsplash too; kept a pic of it for inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the compliments I am glad everyone likes it as much as we do.

circuspeanut: We love the iMac computer! DH's idea We use it as a stereo too with rockin M-Audio speakers! it also has the eyetv feature so I have TV in the kitchen. Every decision was made with the thought that this is our home that we will retire in.

ZeeBee: the granite is 2cm thick they double it here in CA

Oh, Shaker is my favorite style, and it looks fantastic with the wood floor!

I have looked at that AZ tile golden granite with longing at the showroom near us, and your kitchen makes it really glow.

We were just considering the same granite with our cherry cabinets. Also have been looking at Sante Cecila, did you ever consider more of a pattern? Our floor is a light color stone tile, which I wanted to bring out in the backsplash. Liked your backsplash, are they easy to wipe off behind your cooktop? Where is your microwave? Mine is above the cooktop. We are using our existing cabinets, but either have to shorten the cabinet above the microwave or find another place for it with out extensive remodel. Thanks for the photos, any ideas?

sue15c: the backsplash is very easy to clean (and I cook every night) if you look closely in the pantry pic, we have a GE Spacesaver microwave in there.

What a beautiful Kitchen.. I haven't really begun to search for my backsplash, but you may have just inspired me too.. I have a similar kitchen.. with a twist.. cherry stained perimeter cabinets with absolute black granite and a black stained island with typhoon bordeaux granite on on the island.. Think that backsplash (or some variation of it may work for me??? It is absolutely gorgeous!! enjoy every thing about it!
