Thank you very much for the kind words! I was so nervous to post my small kitchen on here after viewing the gorgeous, expensive kitchens you ladies have.

The granite is called Asterix - I bought it from European Marble & Tile in New Jersey. It was a splurge for $105 sq. ft. but I only needed one slab. I saw several lots of Asterix in different areas of NY & NJ, but this particular piece was the only one that sang to me.

My husband installed the backsplash. I wanted the contemporary feel of the large tiles but was so scared to put them on a small wall. The large size did make it easy to install for him. The grout is a charcoal gray (we now need to find caulk the same color to put where the counter meets the backsplash).

The backsplash field tile is 6 x 24 porcelain and the deco tile are iridescent glass. Bought them from 2 different tile stores in Queens, NY - I can't remember the tile names though after seeing so many. There were tons of nice ones, it was hard to choose!

Great choices!! You ended up with a lovely and functional space. Your husband did a very nice job on the backsplash install. Look at Laticrete-they make caulk that matches their grout and I think they carry slate gray which may work.

Tamdave - I think I have told you before, your backsplash is really special. The mosaics with the large stacked tile look great, I especially like that you put it lower on the wall. The extremely different scale of the two tiles work well together, complimenting not competing. The mosaics are slightly blue, then gray and surprisingly a great compliment to the dark redder cabinets and the beautiful counters. Bravo!

I've lost myself in your amazing granite!! You've done an incredible job of maximizing the functionality of your space while at the same time making it a beautiful space in which to work! Your table is inspired. I love the set of drawers sitting in the corner. I was happy to see you posted more pictures of your kitchen. I just want to say again that I think you and your hubby did an awesome job with the selection of materials. It looks super rich. I really like the pass thru window (I would think you use that alot) and the drawers next to your coffee pot that sit on the counter (neat!). I hope that you show your hubby the sincere compliments from this thread so we can make his day again!

Julie the pass through was there when we bought the house. We have company all the time so we do use it. I like it because I can see/talk to people in the other room and it doesn't make the kitchen so closed off.

My husband's fave part is the tv which he recessed into the wall. It pulls out and swivels both ways. I swear - the men, they love a good gadget.

Believe it or not, I get more compliments on the new blinds which are plastic! I gave them a lot of thought because I wanted an option that let the most light and air from outside without allowing neighbors to see me inside. I found them on the Bali website - they have them in all different patterns. At night they GLOW beautifully from outside and people ask me about them all the time. And they were CHEAP! I think around $150 from Home Depot for my bay window.
