Fabrics pics for grandsons snake quilt

I have been looking everywhere to find a snake skin fabric

I am making my grandson a snake quilt I found these today

a bright lime green and a coral color. This also comes in a purple and a black! I still may get the purple. I have to buy a soild black for the base .This is the quilt I want to make:Finished Size = 42" by 57"

Those fabrics look great (love the colors!), but I think there is also something to be said for the third one from the left in the pictured quilt--it reminds me a lot of a certain poisonous Japanese snake called "yamakagashi". Anyway, that is an awfully cute quilt! Be sure to let us see yours when it is done.

Is this for him to use on his dorm bed? College colors are good, and maybe a non traditional pattern. More than likely, it's going to be a big jumbled pile at the end of his bed most of the time anyway. lol That's what I saw in most of the dorm rooms I passed by when I visited dd. However, there was one comforter they kept in the "living area" of the suite that everyone wanted to wrap up in because it had flannel on one side. Put a solid backing on it and if he thinks it's too girly, he can turn it over.

I have made this quilt also. Its super cute. In fact I have given it to my church to use as a raffle prize. I was looking for the book so I could write out the little story behind it, how the grandmother made the pockets in the heads so she could leave notes for her grandkids and how one snake is facing the other direction because she had one granddaughter who always did her own thing....., but i cant find the book. Can you help? I really wanted to attach the story, one of the reasons I loved the quilt was because of that, so I can do so?

Thanks everyone. Sharon you explain things so well. I will do this technique more often now and I want to try the fleece backing. The little panel had a date of 1987 on the selvage...does that make the quilt "vintage"? I guess I never had the right peach coordinate until now. The sashing and border are "Friends Forever" and has cute sayings about friendships. I feel so good....I have improved my skills on 2 techniques this week...this forum is so much fun! Jean

This is going to be one of his Christmas presents....he is coming to see me soon and I can't wait! I got him a baseball glove today!Have to get a baseball for it! Have to stock up on his favorite snacks....He called me today to tell me he got my pkg. I sent him a football, and a keyboard and a couple new spiderman shirts and shorts and a fantastic 4 jacket and 2 pairs of shoes and new bookbag he just loved his jacket and told me he was taking all of his school things out of his old bookbag and putting it in his new bookbag.He also said his new shoes had no laces I said no baby 1 pr is sandals and the other are canvas slip ons.
he also said I forgot his marshmallows LOL. I seen a real cute pair of spiderman tennis shoes with laces LOL I want to get him but I want to take him with me to get them....he will flip when he sees them.

WHat a lucky grandson!! I bought this pattern in a kit a couple of years. I've yet to make it.

Red, Great fabrics for snakes! I think I'd get the purple, too. I have that pattern saved to make someday, too.

I recently bought fabrics to make that quilt too. I'm using marbles, though I do like the sample quilt with all the different fabrics, too. Yours with snake skin will be cool, too. --Amy

I seen a few other snake skin fabrics I may get waiting on the ones I purchased to arrive to see how they look before I buy the purple.Amy I have some marbles also going to see what they look like against the fabric I just purchased..I also have some other fabric just waiting to see if I think they will look good together.

What a great pattern! How did you find such a perfect little kid quilt? Your grandson is lucky to have a grandma who loves him so much.
