This is my little charity quilt that you gals helped me birth! It turned out pretty good..no puckers...I used spray basting on the flannel backing which really helps it hold still.

Thanks for all your help...Now I can do this right.

I have made this quilt also. Its super cute. In fact I have given it to my church to use as a raffle prize. I was looking for the book so I could write out the little story behind it, how the grandmother made the pockets in the heads so she could leave notes for her grandkids and how one snake is facing the other direction because she had one granddaughter who always did her own thing....., but i cant find the book. Can you help? I really wanted to attach the story, one of the reasons I loved the quilt was because of that, so I can do so?

I'd do the pink background with brown lettering and the brown background with pink lettering. -Use the same shades of pink and brown for both sections and it should work well. Don't know what kind of pictures you plan to use... but the feet are kind of boring, IMO. I'd maybe do a small picture of Grant holding her instead.

Jean, That's great!!!! I love your fabric! Now that you've done one, you'll get your own system going and crank those quilts out one right after another! (chuckle)

Another option.......I buy the childrens cloth book panels when on sale, cut out the 'pages', sash and use them as blocks, too. They make really cute quilts for kids. I made a Bob the Builder for my 5 yo great-grandson last summer.

Thanks everyone. Sharon you explain things so well. I will do this technique more often now and I want to try the fleece backing.

The little panel had a date of 1987 on the selvage...does that make the quilt "vintage"? I guess I never had the right peach coordinate until now. The sashing and border are "Friends Forever" and has cute sayings about friendships.

I feel so good....I have improved my skills on 2 techniques this week...this forum is so much fun!
