I would love to see some warm wood tones incorporated into the room. My suggestion would be to have the vanity and mirror frame stained a medium brown and than also the same for the tub apron. The greens and yellows and travertine would look great against the wood tone.

Thanks roseabby, unfortunately that is not an option. The vanity is two different woods and won't stain consistantly according to the maker. We used two different woods to get the thickness on the top. There may have been other solutions but that is what we're stuck with. The mirror is yet another type of wood, it's made from the '30s trim found in our house.

But I think you are also suggesting that there be some medium brown it it. Another option might be to stain it medium brown then glaze over in the muslin or a white and sand off some to allow the brown stain to show, giving it a slightly distressed look. Since the prints are French that might work?

I love the idea team, I really like the vintage commode with the top being different than the body. This could work well for you , this way it doesnt matter that the top is two different woods. I think the muslin color with the brown stain would look better than the white. The only thing I would have a problem wood is the mirror. It looks too white and new looking to work with the vanity if you go this route.

Thanks again, I think I could do something similar with the mirror. but in a different order since it's got fresh paint on it. I would sand areas to bare wood, adding stain to those areas showing wood, wiping it off elsewhere and then glazing with the muslin and again removing the paint on the wood area. It's actually a bit beaten up anyway. If that doesn't work I can strip it down and start again . . . next year ;->

I have a fellow who will paint the vanity for me (too nerve wracking for me, but I'm ok doing the mirror). He's coming by Saturday and will discuss and I'll let you know! I sent him that photo too.

I have a sample of the first, and it goes well, the background is similar to the muslin color of the paint. I am getting samples of the others.

Do you think I am on the right track? The photo of the room is a bit washed out, sorry.Those prints sitting on the tub surround are on the wall now. The back ground is a very soft blue/green with the herbs a deeper almost brown green. The window has mullions if that makes a difference.
