Cabinets, Brookhaven or Kraftmaid, comparable price
Comments (3)I have Brookhaven -- for the superior finish, the 13" deep uppers, the ability to pick certain pieces from Woodmode if needed, and for the frameless construction. I was also reading a lot of delivery and damage problems with KM orders around that time, but it's been 3-4 years now (can it be?). I had a water leak under my sink after they were installed (plumber didn't tighten things when he finished) and even the cut edges where pipes came through the box showed no sign of damage from absorbing water. I have other cabinets in Woodmode and I'm not seeing any difference in the wear on them. I'm happy with both....See MoreCabico vs. Kraftmaid Cabinets
Comments (7)I looked at a lot of different cabinet lines, but ultimately chose Plain and Fancy. I haven't received them yet, so can only tell you what I know so far. I chose them for a few reasons, mainly for their quality and finish. They also weren't too much more expensive than the Kraftmaid quote I received, but definitely more expensive than Cabico. I ordered white painted cabinets and the finish was a huge concern for me since painted cabinets can generally show wear more quickly and are harder to touch up. I was looking for a cabinet company that baked on their painted finish and sanded between each coat. They also paint all the parts of a door or drawer front separately before putting them together. This helps to ensure that if there is any movement or expansion of the separate parts, you will see the painted finish instead of having an unfinished gap. I also checked door samples in a couple of showrooms and liked the finish very much. It just looked prettier and more durable. I did not really like the Cabico painted finishes. I know you are looking at stained finishes, however, and I really didn't look too closely at those. In addition to their finishing process, there were some construction details on the Plain and Fancy that other lines didn't offer. They are also concerned with their impact on the environment. I e-mailed and called the company directly a couple of times with questions and they were very pleasant, helpful and responded quickly. Overall, I really liked the look and quality of the cabinets. I did notice on the Cabico frameless cabinet display what Auzzy mentioned about seeing the lighter interior of the cabinets through the gap in between the doors. The salesman told me the doors needed to be adjusted, but I didn't notice this on any of the other cabinet lines I looked at (I also didn't look for that issue on the other cabinet lines, just happened to notice it on Cabico). You may be able to have the interiors finished in the same color as the exterior if this is a concern for you, but there may be an upcharge. Many people on this forum really seem to love their Cabico cabinets and I think for a stained finish, Cabico makes a nice cabinet. Hope this helps....See MoreKraftmaid (HD) vs. Cliq Studios - kitchen cabinets
Comments (14)Made in China? Google Cliqstudios manufacture "Indiana" Warehouse? Sure looks to me made from scratch. Be careful on big box stores. Most of the cabinets for plywood box is a up charge 20%. Make sure the face is a hardwood. I did my masterbath 10 years ago from lowes. They looked great but cheap as hell (Cost was not cheap) Got sucked in with the dove tail drawers also bought two linen cabinets. SHOCKING vinyl contact paper fake wood grain on the outsides of linens. Also when screwing them together the screw went right through, split the inter frame "Pine" Total junk! However they don't sell this brand anymore but something tells me they were exclusively made for lowes? Also google Kraftmade reviews something must be going on over there, More for less?...See MoreCabinet Brands: Design Craft (Medallion), KraftMaid, or Showplace
Comments (37)The Kitchen Place, Kraftmaid all plywood Sonata Maple in Canvas Suede. A Kraftmaid rep did come to our home to see the issues and in response stated, "in relation to the cabinet boxes with the thin paint finish the best way to remedy that issue will be to install decoratvie panels and use touch up paint for any areas the panels will not cover." Masco mailed us a can of spray paint which stated on the instuctions that is was only to be applied wearing appropriate protective breathing apperatus in well ventilated area. Difficult as the cabinets were already installed. I will try to post photos of chipped door edges tomorrow for you. www.kitchenreviews.com/cabinets/reviews/kraftmaid/ There are reviews for 2019 here and most express the same problems....See Morewilliamsem
