Showplace and Custom Cupboards - opinions/pictures please...
Comments (13)Well, got my Brookhaven quote 19-22K for frameless. 24-27K for inset. OUch. We have a decent sized galley kitchen with no uppers on one side. But she's reworking the layout so maybe she made some changes. I'm going to meet with her tomorrow to see what's she's done. I went to check out some ShowPlace cabinets also. I almost felt like I was more updated on the company that the kitchen showroom selling them. I knew about the new designs and colors lol. I was not blown over by the display they had (they did have a kitchen set up), but I'm not sure if it was the cabinet's fault or maybe the guy just did a careless job with the details. I think the display was a few years old at least too since he said they've changed the side mounted pull outs to undermounted and had made a few other changes. Wood sided doors and free glazes sounds good to me... Man, so many choices. My neighbor is going with Quality cabinets...her sample looks really nice (there's spending a fortune between the kitchen, bath, hutch, entertainment center). My mom got Crystal cabinets about 13 years ago and hers still look great too. And my soapstone guy wants to give me a quote for cabinets too (custom made in CA)... I think he would do a great job, but I'm very hesitant about having a CA finish instead of one from out of state. aaaaaaaaa !...See MoreRelative cabinetry prices: brand vs. brand (cont'd)
Comments (7)dreamojean: Thank you for taking the time to put this list together. I've spent months educating myself on the various lines, yet I am still not sure on a few things. You mention the Columbia cabinets in your descriptions, but it isnt in the list. Do you know where it would land in terms of quality / cost?...See MoreRelative cabinetry prices: brand vs. brand: take 2
Comments (23)Mrsjoe, Yes, Conestoga's are far better than Kraftsmaid in quality (although Kraftsmaid is nice). I'm not sure about Shenandoah as I have never seen them. I think quality wise (not price) they fall somewhere between Medallion/Schuler's plywood/wood option and maybe Shiloh or a bit further down the list. My estimate for Medallion in non wood "mdf" boxes came in at $14,000 or just under (forget) and my Conestoga's "all wood" rta's were around $8,000 with shipping. My bill was actually $8,320 I think but I ordered some back-up stain, glaze, paint, varnish and top coat just in case we screwed anything up. The finishes are real nice and I do love the catalyzed varnished interiors and the thick solid wood varnished shelves. I paid and extra $10 for 3/4 inch thick bottoms in my larger drawer bank. It was probably over kill but these babies are solid....See MoreHELP with Kitchen Cabinets (KraftMaid, Merillat, Medallion or Who??)
Comments (11)Where in PA? If near HB, check out Swartz kitchens for Shiloh. They did well on pricing for the painted cabinets. Lowes and Just Cabinets did almost the same on the Medallion brand , which are Schuler at Lowes. KM was best at the big box for me, due to the sales they often have. The Masterpiece just did not compare in quality to the others and the pricing was about the same. I live in York county and the private dealers I dealt with did not offer the best pricing and were not usually as receptive to my input....See Moreteammcguire1
