I did what colickyboy did - had one design which I shopped around. During that process, my actual design evolved so my end kitchen was different than what I'd gotten quotes on. But sticking with that one design helped me to determine pricing differences between manufactures and shops. Notice that I say manufacturers AND shops. Different shops selling the same brand will give you differen quotes for the same thing. If there are any other shops in your area which sell brookhaven, get more quotes. You might be surprised at the results. We ended up with Brookhaven and they cost me about 10% more than Kraftmaid would have. Plus I got everything I wanted (some of which Kraftmaid couldn't provide) and I agree that Brookhaven is a better product. You know, lots of people are quite happy with Kraftmaid so I'm not trying to dis them. The thing is though, having been on this board for over six years, I've read lots of stories of people not happy with Kraftmaid. It's probably somewhere in the 70-30 range (70% happy/30% not). That's my impression, no scientific study or anything. OTOH, I can't remember ever reading about someone being unhappy with Brookhaven. In the grand scheme of things a lot more people order Kraftmaid than Brookhaven considering their availability from HD & Lowes, and all this is anecdotal of course, but something to keep in mind. One more comment. I don't know how much you shopped other brands but I highly recommend doing so. I got a LOT of estimates and by the time I settled on Brookhaven I was certain it was the right product for me. Two brands is just not enough to make a good decision IMO.

I will definitely check them out. tam184 - I am in the process of getting a quote from Brookhaven I will be surprised if they come under the Kraftmaid price as their site looks a lot nicer, but I would love to have at least a semi-competitive price from Brookhaven. I am going to actually see them on Monday, but their site and the reviews of them + Woodmode on this site have made them look really good already. lotsapatience - Yes I did, though when I got the quote it was only $500 more then the Kraftmaid (the cabinets were only $200 more but the panels and molding were $300+ more). However after the Kraftmaid discount of $1000 + free sink and Innermosts lack of deals currently (have free height modifications but that doesn't help me with 42" cabinets) causes the price to be $1800 higher. That's roughly 28% higher, I'm okay with a premium for frameless but not 28%. However soon with their free sinkmat, trash box and shipping that may lower to $1100 or so which would be more competitive. kompy (again) - I didn't know that Innermost was from Medallion Cabinetry, I thought it was from the Elkay company. I will definetly look at DesignCraft now as I did quite enjoy the Innermost line. One other thing I was wondering about: Lowes in the PNW and California sells a new line of Frameless cabinets which are their version of the Bellmont 1600, they are priced pretty competitively with the Innermost line (though their BMSM program is lower), they lack a lot of things, such as only having 1 type of trash box (15" or 18") instead of the 3 or so different most lines carry. Is this the same for the Bellmont 1600 line and how have people enjoyed them? Also does anyone the glides on those, they were some APB company from what I heard which seems really bad.

We just had Kraftmaid painted cabinets installed in our baths and laundry room. We had some defects resulting in several doors and 2 entire wall cabinets that had to be replaced. The replacements came in a couple of weeks and were fine. We did DuraSupreme wood cabinets in our kitchen and are much happier with the overall quality finish versus Kraftmaid. Our Kitchen Designer also handles Brookhaven and she said that the lead time on Brookhaven is currently 10-12 weeks due to reduction in workforce at their manufacturing plants. Quoted Kraftmaid lead times are about 5-6 weeks but that could be changing. So I would ask about lead times before ordering any brand as most companies are scaling back.

Yes, we did. Well, partially. Our cabinet maker built the cabinet boxes, but the doors are all Meridian. Solid maple and he painted them. No issues. We've had the cabinets for a year and I haven't noticed any shinkage or changes in the wood due to moisture or humidity.
