I'm working on your Nine Burr blocks but really struggling with them. I think it's just a mental thing because from the first time I looked at it I thought it would be a tough pattern for me. I'm still hoping to get them there ( I owe you 2 ) by your birthday! I've got Friday afternoon off and will spend it at the sewing machine. I CAN do this, but please forgive me if they are a couple days late.

Jayne, don't apologize! It's a beautiful block and will make a great quilting project. Sharon is right - challenges are fun and rewarding. I just wanted you to know why mine might be late. People had a lot of trouble with the block I chose this year; I had no idea that one would be tough either.

Thanks Jayne. That is an interesting block. I had to study it to see how the blocks are joined for the quilt top. Do you add triangles to the corners to join the blocks together?

Jayne, I mailed your package today. Hopefully, you will receive it in time for your birthday. I thought it was a challenge only because I cut the quarter square triangles separately to make it scrappy enough, so I had to figure out the math to get them the right size and, you really had to pay attention to the location of the darks and lights. I would consider making this block again. I can't wait to see your quilt!

Jayne, I thought I had signed it, but with the way my mind works lately, what I do and 'think' I do are 2 different things. Hope you had a great birthday! I tried your block and didn't like the way it came out so I'm making another :) All the small squares are hard for me, lol. I've been out of town on an unexpected stay with my mother, but I have this weekend to work on it and it should be ready to be mailed on Monday. Oh no, don't worry about it. I love the bday blocks for exactly this reason - it challenges me to try new things that I'd normally look at and shy away from - that's the best part. I just want to send the best one I can make ... I'm absolutely loving the colours, and hopefully I'll get it done this weekend!
