I have completed your block and since it will take 10 days to reach you from Australia, I will post it tomorrow (8th Oct) to ensure you receive it in time for your birthday.

Kristene, I got your block about a week ago and thought to myself 'omg it's almost November!'. I am sorry I didn't let you know. :( I have not even opened the envelope and I enjoy the not knowing for now. So .. you are first!

If I had an unlimited supply of cash for the garden, I would certainly be in heaven. I want, desperatly, to get a Wollemi Pine. They are 100 dollars now. I think it'd be great to have a plant of a specie which only has about 100 known to be in the wild. The mystique draws me... I recently visited the botanical garden in Rome, where I was able to touch one of these beauties. Theirs was about 4ft high and flourishing. I have been waiting with abated breath for them to be available here in the US. I would also like a yellow peony and camelia. There is a new begonia available called "bonfire" that looks like it will be making an appearance in my garden whether or not I win the lottery. ---Keith

Carlos, I am amazed at how many iris you have growing on a city lot. It must be a very large lot. You have many on those lists to add to your Schreiner's collection. I also see that you have a large number of Walter Moores iris. I am also a collection of Moores iris and also have a good collection of the older Schreiner's iris. I plan in the near future to get all my Schreiner's and Moores' iris into their own areas. Now they are growing in various iris areas. I have a collection of the Dykes Metal winners. At least I have something growing under all the names. I am not sure anyone knows the true ID of some of the older Dykes winners. I have several different older Dykes iris growing under the same name. I have 20 acres of which 14 could be used to grow iris if I need the space. I have several iris areas that may cover about 2 acres all together. I have several mass planting of older iris(Quaker Lady, New Snow, Wabash, Shah Jehan, Cardinal, Indian Chief). I started with iris 5 years ago and am just now getting enough material to arrange it into different gardens. Lee Mincy

Cool Lisa! It took almost a year for me to see a Red Belly on the suet log. Now Mr. Red belly visits the suet log almost every day. He is a noisy guy, and makes a big fuss when he's around. It seems like he's telling all the other birds to stay out of his way and they usually do. There was a Red-belly earlier in the summer that would rap on the gutter when the suet log was empty. It was quite deliberate and somewhat annoying! :) Just signed up for the PFW this morning. I did a bird count yesterday afternoon and this morning. I don't get the packet for a couple weeks, but they said it was okay to enter the data when it comes. It's fun! Had a pair of Red breasted Nuthatches this morning, and yesterday afternoon there were dozens of Juncos! At least 30 in the feeding station area and nearby grass and leaves. Along with 8 or more White throat sparrows, all pecking and scratching and rustling leaves. The ground looked like it was alive.

Laurel, Eeww was right! But now it is done! Hooray!!! It was soooo baaad! I want to thank you for these awesome gifts: -a very nice mix of finch seed -a nut and fruit seed bell-Laurel, I love to hang these on the porch as I can get a close up view from my sitting chair in the living room. -seeds-salvia(St. John's fire), purple coneflower, chianti sunflower, gaillardia, brilliant red poppy, Will Rogers zinnia, and gloriosa daisy. The birds will have a heyday with many of those flowers. Thank you! -double chocolate Ghirardelli coffee-oh YUM! -cute decoration shaped like a birdhouse with sunflowers painted on it that says, "Harvest Home Inn" -a beautiful hummingbird windchime -4 separate hanging birdhouse decorations-each is done in a different color with a different flower and a different saying-the sayings are Love, Hope, Faith, and Peace--These are very, very cute!!! The paintings of the flowers on them is so tiny and detailed. Hope has blue morning glories, love has yellow sunflowers, faith has a pink/white lily, and I am unsure what flower peace has, but it is a pretty blue. These are just soooo neat!!! -English Teatime tea in a cute Happy Holidays box that has a couple of cheery, fat birds on the front. -a tube of Baume Du Jardinier the Gardener's Hand Healer-it smells wonderful and makes my hands feel smooth and silky. It has shea butter in it. -a holiday tin with a winter scene of a farmstead all decked out in snow and greenery and a beautiful cardinal or two. The tin itself is full of Hershey's mint truffles. These are deLISH!!!!! You can't just stop at 1 or 2. Laurel, thank you so very, very much for the wonderful box of goodies for our feathered friends AND for me. Wasn't this a fun swap? There is just something about feeding and watching birds that is so satisfying. I'm guessing that you think so, too. Everything wass wonderful and very appreciated!!! Mary Ellen

Nancy, I'm going to be a little late but only by a couple days. An unplanned out-of-town family event this weekend will keep me away from my sewing machine but I should be making and mailing your block on the 9th. Poor planning on my part to leave this until the last weekend... I'm sorry!

My squishie to you was ready to go yesterday, but the US Mail didn't cooperate (Veterans Day). However, it will go out today and if fair winds blow (as my Great Aunt used to say) it will arrive on your birthday. I'm so sorry it's down to the wire on this one!

It was a fun block to make and I'm sure it will make a wonderful quilt!

By the way, Nancy, if you received the block from me, you should also have the block from Andrea (dragonflyusc.) She is my daughter and we mailed quite a few of our blocks together when we managed to see each other during the month. If there were two in the envelope that arrived from me, I likely put a note in the card that the other block was from Andrea. Anyway, I hope it made it there okay.

First, thank all of you for the wonderful blocks you sent. I am planning on making a bed quilt to use at our farm. It burned down in May and we just finished putting a trailer home on it. No one was there and it got hit by lightning. (it was a very old farmhouse and we use it as a getaway) Anyway, the blocks are all awesome.
TinyTeena, Your blocks were received first. Thank you for the two blocks and the extra pieces for more. I will make them up. The pink and purple fabrics are so pretty. I really liked the sparkly birthday card!
Andrea, Your block came with your momÃ¢ÂÂs block. It is nice you can share quilting. I love the harvest fabric. It is appropriate for this time of year.
Kate, I love the swirly fabric, it is really cool. I actually think I have some black fabric like the small blocks are! Thanks for the crystals, too.

Jayne, I was startled when I opened the birthday card and a spider fell in my lap! Lol I like the scrappy look. I like how you opened the seams on the four patch. I also like the geometric prints. The postcard will probably not get sent anywhere but my sewing room.
