Here is my colorwash hunter star quilt - finished! Finally!!! My first finish this year.

I even have 2 finishes this week! I just finished this mini bow tucks bag a few minutes ago.

I picked out this FQ during a shop hop - just loved the colors and bold print. Then of course I wondered what to do with one FQ. It was just enough for the bag - I have a strip about 1-1/2" wide and about 6" long left. :)

The deck is essentially 16x29. There are two decks, that are each 16x16. However, the one deck surface is one step down and offset from the house 5 feet. Then slid under the upper deck 3 feet. So along the house it is 29 feet. In some sections it sticks out 16 feet from the house, in others 21 feet. Make sense? Thanks...Mike

Thank you all so much! It feels great to have it done. I finished the top in Nov of 2009 and it sat in the closet for 2 years before I got up the nerve to start quilting it! Kate - no - it won't be coming to show & tell. Mark said now that it's up there it's not coming down! LOL Rosa, that's too funny how close you were to being a Floridian! Both our moms are Florida natives, too. Bev, clockwise from upper right they are bougainvillea, allemanda, crape myrtle, day lilies, plumbagos, some cute white flowers whose name I don't remember (!), crotons, hibiscus, and banana leaves. And palm tree blocks in the outer corners; those are paper pieced rather than applique. Donna

Thank you all! It felt good to get something done. It poured rain all day yesterday...I think we had around 4 inches. Today we are having gusty wind and more rain, and it's about 30 degrees colder than yesterday. I think I'll still make a run to JoAnn's for some BOGO thread. Quilting fabric is 50% off, too. Ã°ÂÂÂ

Thanks, everyone! This is my third mushroom and I think my favorite. Practice does really make a difference when it comes to mosaic, I'm learning! Kathy, yes I paint the stem. I figured it would be too busy to mosaic the whole thing. Painting concrete/mortar takes a little more patience, though, because you really should let the concrete cure for a good 30 days before applying paint. That's because the cement is very acidic when you first make it. The PH level moves toward neutral the older it gets. But to paint it, I first paint on a coat of 123 Primer. Then I use craft paints labeled for "outdoor" use. They're in the paint aisle at Michaels, or any similar craft store. Once that's dried, I spray on an outdoor acrylic sealer. Then I use glue to stick the two pieces together. I'd love to see yours when you get it done!

Your Hunter Star is a beauty, Donna!!! Excellent shading work. And I really like the bag fabric......very tropical. Good for you for getting 2 somethings completed!!!

I really like your bag, the fabrics work so well together. Amazing what you can do with 1 FQ.
I love looking a bags but have problems using them. Don't feel comfortable unless I have it across my body. lol.

They are both beautiful and I really like the bag. I have a pattern for a bag when I ever get the fabric to make it.

Nanajayne, I like a cross-body bag, too...or at least straps long enough to go over my shoulder. Now that I've made this one I know how to change it next time. LOL
