Like so many on this forum, I feel like I have learned so much from all the great people here. I could never have had such a successful pool build without the wealth of knowledge I have learned through this wonderful website.

We live in a very small town in central Texas. We signed a contract on June 30, 2008. On July 14th - the same day we went to the hospital to have our baby girl - they began digging. =)

I am very grateful that our build went so smoothly, with the pool and the newborn, it has certainly been an exciting time! The pool build was completed on August 29th, 2008. Appx 7 weeks from start to finish.

Here is our pool information:

100' perimeter gunite pool with dark grey plaster and blue quartz.

7 1/2 foot diameter spa, raised 18" with a 3 foot spillover

30" Hayward Sand filter

1.5 HP (2.4 total HP) Northstar Hayward pump

Hayward 400,000 BTU propane heater

6 ton waterfall 11 foot wide by 3 1/2 feet high with a 3/4 HP Hayward Tristar pump.

2 bubblers on the 6 x 8 sunshelf, 6" deep

Polaris 280 w/ booster pump

6 50 Watt Fiberstars LED lights

appx. 800 sq ft of Texas rock & Sand colored cool decking

We still have some landscaping to complete and a fence to finish - then we are going to have a perimeter fence put around the pool for our children -3 that are under six years old.

looks beautiful. what kind of plaster finish did you use? I like the water color.

Hi Teppy - I used a dark gray plaster and they added blue quartz to the plaster. It has a beautiful natural look. We love it!

Curt; The rule here is No Soliciting. That last post is a general solicitation aka SPAM and violates the Terms Of Use you agreed to when you signed on. Buying over the net is great for the DIYer. Do you bring your own steak to Outback and ask them to cook and serve it to you? Don't expect someone like me (I'm a tech, not a PB) to install or support something I didn't sell but the same holds true for PBs. Most of the homeowners that come here for advice have a PB involved or are searching for one or are having a technical issue they are trying to understand and want get educated so they don't get taken advantage of by those without ethics. Glad to hear it's all coming together for you momof3. I do wonder if all the problems began after GM's "departure" but consistent lying and not not showing up to the job site and leaving our backyard in shambles have left us no choices and now we are moving on and getting things done our way. Never said it was your fault Jimbar...Just expressing what we are going through, with the same people who you worked with...with very different results..consider yourself very lucky. We have learned from several contractors that our PB is well known for taking on way too much, he's short staffed and has several cases against him for lack of finishing the job, he subs everything out despite his website claiming "no subs"...so, we wait on subs to finish other jobs to get to us and are lied to consistently - he blames everyone else and keeps blaming GM (he was in sales he's not a builder) it shows MW's inexperience and immaturity as a business man - he screws people, plain and simple. These delays will cost him in the end, as you can see from this forum (and there are others where I have read about CB) his reputation is exactly what we are going through so I am happy for those few who can claim a a good experience, there aren't many of you jimbar. ..thanks for your time and input.

~ "Love your drawer organizers. May I ask where you purchased them? " I actually found those at Lowes for $23 each. A very happy find. ~ "How wide are your pots and pans drawers? Do you have two, or more? Are you able to fit everything comfortably?" There is a 24" drawer unit to the left of the range and a 21" unit on the right. All four of the lower drawers are used for pots and smaller pans and the top two drawers store my cooking utensils (spatulas, ladles, spoons, etc.) The actually drawers hold an impressive amount of cookware. Right now I have in them: 1 - 4qt saute pan 3 - 3qt saucepans 2 - 3.5qt saucepans 2 - 2 qt saucepans 1 - 1.5 qt saucepan 1 - 2 qt saucier 1 - 1 qt saucepan 1 - 8" skillet 2 - 3qt steamer inserts 2 - nonstick skillets ... and the lids for all of them. The only pans which don't fit in those drawers are my large skillets, large stockpots (12 & 16 qt) and the wok. The skillets are hanging on those hooks set up off to the right of the range and the stockpots & wok I keep stored under the island (as they are used less frequently).

Very nice design -- like your choices. We are also in Central Texas on Lake LBJ and have chosen our builder -- we won't begin the dig until a little later in the Fall. It's great to see that it can be done out here in as little as 7 weeks. Do you mind sharing who your builder is?

Also, most of the builders we've talked with have been pushing building a retaining wall to hold back the drainage of water from a heavy slope above where our pool will be. I see you have a similar slope -- can you share what your plans are to ensure rain water and soil does not come into your pool from that slope during heavy rains?

We2texans - thank you for the compliments we are so pleased with our builder! We chose the folks in Llano if that helps any!

As far as a retaining wall behind our pool, no, we had our builder cut a "channel" behind the pool for the rain to run down away from the pool. We did get an auto-leveler just in case, though. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thank you DD50! Yes, we actually had 6 umbrella holders placed in our decking so when the sun is in different positions we can move the umbrellas around. They have really come in handy so far!

It looks awesome, congrats!! That's a really unusual little niche with the steps going down, I've never seen steps done like that before. It looks like it would double as a great place to sit while using the coping as armrests :-) Kind of like a built-in lounger!

Hi tresw! Yes, I put that in as a "swim-out" for a future slide. I stubbed up the slide, but feel my children are a bit to small yet. The swim-out is the perfect place to sit, though - it is just like a lounge chair and has a great view of the pool and spa!
