Trying to order on Amazon

I've never purchased anything on Amazon and I'm noodling around trying to buy an induction hot plate.

It says Free shipping and the price is $69.99.
When I go to check out the price jumps to $92.39. What am I doing wrong?

Did you mistakenly click on one day shipping? Free shipping is not the same as one-day shipping.

Or, do you have something else in your cart?

Most likely it's what graywings said. You need to physically choose the free shipping option.

I'm in Canada and am crazy about online shopping since selection in my parts is meh to dire. I order frequently from the American Amazon site! Love it! I got all my doorknobs there, still less than half what I would pay around here. I had to return a doorknob and the process was painless except I was on the hook for some of the return shipping. Have ordered many times from O.co and very satisfied. Got some floor and wall tile through them. Have ordered a few times from 1stoplighting's Canadian version, canadalightingexperts. Pretty satisfied. Have not yet had a return to them. Did order one item that is permanently out of stock and to this day it is still on their website -- but they did notify me quickly and gave me a 10% coupon for a reorder. I see build.com now has a Canadian site...things are looking up up here!

mamap, I can't remember which thread you were advising me to order Tide AF powder (I have the liquid), but I took advantage of the Amazon coupon and bought a box. I think you are right about saving it for sheets. The liquid leaves a moderate scent even after a second rinse, but the sheets are soft... I did use STPP, so maybe I need to decrease the amount of detergent I use (I use about 1.25 oz. on a standard large load). I don't remember the smell of the original Tide and AF anymore, but the new scent is pleasant and reminds me of the fresh smells of 1980's detergents. Thanks for the heads-up.

I just wanted to report that I went to Joann Fabrics and checked out the Diaper Cloth. I was very disappointed in it as it was not 100% cotton, but rather a cotton/ poly blend, at least that's what my store sells. I'm still planning to make washable non-paper towels and I think what I'm going to do in order to save money since these will be used only for clean up of kitchen messes and wiping sticky kid hands..is..walmart sells a 10 pack of 28×28 flour sack towels for 8$ ....cut each one in four gives me 4 ...14×14 ..so 8 dollors will yeld 40 of these. This is very cheap and cost effective for a fabric that's 100% cotton, absorbant, and bleachable. The size is right even if it should shrink slightly. Will only take minutes to run the edges off on the machine and will be fun for Amiee to do. I think I'll do 3 packs giving me 120 at a cost of 24$ what do you think?

A lot of the mess is the carriers fault. I ordered a kindle fire hd 10 from Amazon. It said it was delivered even though it wasn't. I called Amazon and they called ups. UPS asked a bunch of questions about my address and did I check everywhere a package could be left before I finally just asked them to call their delivery driver. I got a call back about an hour later saying that the driver still had the package and would meet me at a local Winn Dixie after he got done for the day if I wanted. I asked them to just deliver it the next business day instead. When they didn't,I called and they asked was I SURE that I asked that it be delivered? Uh,yeah,that's why you have it genius. She offered to have it delivered the next day. I just went to ups and picked it up myself. Amazon was very helpful. They followed up with me to make sure i got my package. UPS,not so much. Fed ex continues to leave my packages at my neighbors house despite explicit directions and a clear address marker. The regular USPS driver keeps putting my neighbors mail in my mailbox. My mailbox is a locking one,so I always get a stack of her mail with a little note from the mailman-"oops,please give this to your neighbor thanks." Also,I suspect that this time of year is nuts at Amazon's warehouses, and a missed item is easy to overlook. Not a good excuse. But my experience with them is that they take your word for it and do the best they can to rectify the problem.

When you get to the shipping section you have about four choices! The default is standard shipping, there are other choices read each one. Check the one with the longest delivery time. Viola
By the way don't tell my DH how I learned about this !

You have to be a Prime Member for free shipping - click on the read more details, next to the item.

I don't think so, Monica. I clicked on the shipping details, and the offer is for free Super Saver shipping, not Prime. It won't be 2-day shipping, but that's okay.

Jasdip, follow the directions others gave you above for clicking on the free shipping option.

Hi guys,
I did it again, doing what I did before (clicking on Free shipping and now it's right.
It shows that the price is $79.09 which is what it would be, with taxes. So that's good.

If I order this, what is the return policy on Amazon??

I believe that if you want to return it within 30 days of purchase they will send you a prepaid (by Amazon) shipping label and you can drip it off at any UPS store for free return.

I bit the bullet and ordered it. The reviews were excellent except for a twit of a "chef" who said that his pans wouldn't work on it, only ss pans, and who has those! So he smashed it. LOL

There are only a handful of categories that Amazon will give you free return shipping on (unless the reason is because something arrived broken, they sent you the wrong item or something else that was the fault of Amazon or the Amazon seller or the delivery system).

If/when you go through the returns process, your order page on the website might offer you a free-returns label to print out, but it might not. (For other e-stores on the web, they'll send you a label that's "postage paid," but the company deducts the shipping charge from the amount it's crediting you back.)

Hopefully that item isn't heavy! If you have to return it on your own dime, don't assume the Postal Service is the best way to go -- also check with United Parcel Service. (I spent a ridiculous amount money returning some QVC items last week!)

But I hope you like what you ordered!

Not every pan will work with induction. Best do a net search for the facts. Stainless will work. If a magnet will stick to the bottom of your pan, it will work. Otherwise it won't. You might have to buy a couple of new pans.

Lov_mkitchen, I've been reading about induction for a while, as I find the whole thing fascinating. I tested my cookware some time ago just out of curiousity and they all work, but one small skillet.
