Free food at McDonalds today

We don't eat there often, but I saw on TV this morning that McDonalds is giving away "free" food today. It's their 'southern style chicken biscuit' during the breakfast hours and their 'southern style chicken sandwich' the rest of the day. You have to buy a medium or large drink, I think.

We've also received coupons in the mail lately for free ones, which we'll use on our upcoming vacation. :-)

LOL, I knew someone would pop in with the negativity right away.

I didn't get there for this but I tried the McSkillet Burrito when they promo'd it this way. It's not bad but I still prefer the smaller sausage burrito.

I've been dying for McD's to offer something new since it's the only fast food in our town and we eat there a couple of times a month but this doesn't help me. I was hoping for a new salad.

Thank you, Dr. Henry, for that paper on toxic GM-effects on goats. Corn & soybean & canola & cottonseed are genetically modified, the Republic Magazine stated that other grains are safe: "Other than corn, no GM grains are sold on the market. Look for 100-percent wheat pasta, couscous, rice, quinoa, oats, barley, sorghum, and dried beans (except soybeans). Most GM ingredients are products made from the “Big Four:” corn, soybeans, canola, and cottonseed. I fed my kid those Pepperidge Farm cookies (made from cottonseed oil) and she broke out in rashes and scratched herself bloody. I ate those cookies and had the worst hayfever: runny nose & sneezing. Went shopping yesterday: They had strawberries for $2.50 versus organic strawberries for $3.45. I sniffed both: the organic strawberries was more fragrant, versus the regular with a slight chemical scent. After sniffing both for several times, my nose was in pain (I stuck my nose too close). I realized that it's the pesticides sprayed on that inflamed my nose. My nose burned for hours afterwards Two years ago I tasted grape at the store, and had a tummy ache. Strawberries is known for the most pesticides I'm very sadden by UK’s Daily Mail report that an estimated 125,000 farmers in India have committed suicide because of crop failure and massive debt since planting GM seeds. Recent Center for Human Rights and Global Justice report: "Indian farmers bought genetically modified Bollgard Bt cotton seeds from the Gates Foundation-backed Monsanto corporation ... 85 percent of cotton grown in India being Monsanto-controlled Bt cotton by 2009. However, the seeds were expensive, and spiralling prices (coupled with planting restrictions from the multinationals selling the seeds) led farmers to hefty loans. Almost 300,000 cotton workers have committed suicide to date, some of them by drinking the same insecticides they were sold by multinationals." From Straw: Years ago I watched a documentary film "Seeds of deception" where Mexican agriculture scientists voiced concern with GM seeds corrupting the bio-diversity of local seeds, which are well-adapted to drought and adverse local conditions. We are saved from our wheat being genetically-modified, thanks to the farmers voicing concerns that our wheat can't be exported, if genetically modified. And in 2009, Germany along with France, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Austria, Poland and Romania banned Monsanto’s MON 810 GM corn because of its documented dangers to biodiversity and human health. Additionally, states in Australia, regions in New Zealand and Brazil and the countries like Venezuela, Zambia, Sudan, Angola and others, all want to be GM-free.The balanced reporting of the press in Europe of the dangers of GMO’s made a significant contribution to the decision to reject GMO’s. Yes, a popular misconception is that when you pay money into a meter you are paying to rent the space. The meters are there to ensure that spaces keep opening up so that businesses can have short term parking for their shoppers who run in for quick sales or service ie; dry cleaner, bank, coffee shop. Yeah they do chalk the tires. If a person gets caught kicking the chalk off the fine is HUGE and it also might involve a possible jail time if the judge so decides. I think they charge with obstruction of a law officer or obstruction of justice or something egregious. ------ The McDonalds coupons in my area will say one coupon per person per visit, and then it goes on to define that a "visit" must be at least an hour apart from each other. It is also printed that they have the right to refuse any coupon based on their discretion.

I buy Merrick 96% meat canned food to add to the dried food my dogs eat, so seeing your need for a mostly meat food for cats caught my eye. I pay $2 a can for 13 oz or so at our bargain-basement independent pet food store. It is 9 % crude protein, 7 % crude fat, 1.2 % crude fiber, 78% moisture. It does not have the added taurine that cats need, though their cat food does have it. I have no idea what the cat food costs. You might want to look into it, though. I see it does have Guar and carrageenan, though. I've always noticed that Chic-fil-a always has polite efficient staff. Other places not so much. And I agree these places are not meant to be careers. I know there are people with families on fixed incomes, but they are the ones qualifying for free schooling. So take advantage and make a change. When I went to school (trade) I was one of 2 people that did not get any assistance. I had to take out two loans. My single mom made too much. The kids that got their school for free didn't always take it seriously and some even just stopped showing up. So I don't know. More and more people want something for nothing. And the more you give them the less they want to earn it. Ok the cost of living has gone up but pay has stayed the same. But if they start increasing everyone things will go up even more. And how is it fair for fast food workers to get the same pay or maybe even more as say an EMS worker? How do you compare making a burger to helping save someone's life?

We have several of the free coupons too. DH used one the other day for the breakfast one. He liked it well enough to take the other breakfast coupon we had to use tomorrow morning ... so it can't be all that bad. He's pretty picky.

As someone who is OFF cholesterol and HBP meds, staying away from food like that is very important to ME!

I don't think anyone is trying to start a fight, honestly. Just giving information that I wouldn't have other wise. My husband has severe diabetes so I have to be careful as far as what he eats goes. Vique.

I think it is wonderful to get a freebie now and then and to even be able to use them...If you are not in a position of having to monitor things like fat and cholesterol...but I do appreciate LuAnn mentioning the fat content because I can't or won't eat that kind of thing either...I have a bad habit of doing it like I always did...and that means doing things like eating a chicken bisquit with out thinking of things like fat etc etc so it really is nice to be reminded.

I needed the health reminder. I thought that sounded good for breakfast and almost did it. I changed my mind and had the Stage I Southbeach breakfast instead.

SO I have to constantly keep an eye on those things..since I want to keep off medications!

My daughter and I had the chicken biscuit and root beers this morning. We won't buy those as ours tasted like fish. We do plan on going to a different McDonald's this evening in another town since we will be there and try the other sandwich. The big or regular drinks are only one dollar right now, not a bad price. I hope those sandwiches don't taste like fish too.

We had the sandwich this evening and all that came on it were two slices of pickles. If they are planning on selling it for very much, we won't be buying it. At least it didn't taste like fish. We brought them home and put Miracle Whip on them.

My DS wants to go, so maybe we will. It got to be over 90 here today and the house is 80+ inside, no AC, so I don't want to cook. I told him, lets go to Foster Freeze and eat ice cream for dinner. He says, that's not dinner but we could there for dessert. LOL

I read that this morning and it got me hungry for MCD. I pass by one every Thursday on my route. I stopped by MCD but there was no signs or anything mentioning anything about a free biscuit. I didn't want to sound like a loon saying I heard online that they were giving free stuff away so I just ordered a sausage biscuit.

They were OK...I ate mine cold with Miracle Whip, but they'd have been better with lettuce. Those few pickles made me LOL! But...they were FREE! :-)

And cb, I saw it on Fox News today, so I'm pretty sure it was everywhere!!
