Can't find a recipe.

I had a recipe, I heard on the radio, for killing weeds. It was a spray that composed of vinegar, water, and some salt, I believe. I can't rememer, or find the proportions. Is anyone familiar with this?

I'm also looking for something to kill purslane. I know some of you like to eat the leaves but I want to get rid of this, in the area it is in.

Also, is there anyway to get rid of dandelions without killing the grass, harming a dog, etc. There are far too many to try to dig out.

Found this on Google. I think I would be a little leery using "boiling" hot water, maybe that is just to dissolve it and you can let it cool down a little.

Ingredients
1 quart boiling water
5 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons salt (regular table salt)
Directions
1Boil water.
2Add vinegar and salt.
3Pour HOT liquid on weeds and grass to be killed.
4(be careful because if the water runs on top of the soil it's gonna kill whatever it touches!).

But if you use boiling water, you really don't need any additives.

I have been using the boiling hot water from cooking pasta for years, to kill back bermuda, or kill weeds in drive way cracks.

No extra energy needed. :)

But you do have to be very careful, not to burn yourself.

when I make a sour cream topping for my cheesecakes, I use 2 cups sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, & 2 tsp. vanilla extract. If you like your topping a little sweeter, you can add more sugar to taste. But this is plenty sweet to our taste.

Jamaican Jungle Bread 1 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose 1 cup 3 minute brand quick oats 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup flaked coconut 1/2 cup walnuts or almonds or pecans, chopped (toasted) 3 bananas, mashed 8 oz crushed pineapple 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 eggs Mix flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, coconut and nuts in a large bowl. Mix bananas, pineapple, oil and eggs in a medium bowl. Add all to large bowl and stir, but not too much. Bake on a greased pan at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. For the glaze, mix 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar with 1 Tb of butter and add either 1/2 ts coconut or vanilla extract. Add 2 ts of milk. Pour this glaze over the bread. Makes one loaf.

I use that sometimes to substitute for Balsamic vinegar. Works very well. Also: 1/2 part that black vinegar 1/2 part light soy sauce Lots of chopped ginger some scallions a few drops of sesame oil Bring to a boil. A great dipping sauce for pot stickers and spring rolls. dcarch

My grandmother poured boiling salted water on weeds, that was her method 50 years ago!

This is different than the recipe I had but probably better. Mine was sprayed on cold. I guess you could apply this with a metal sprinkling can. My sprayer has a large plastic bottle so I wouldn't want to put boiling water in it.
