Window treatment for door with large portal? HELP

I have a door off the master bedroom to the patio. The door has a large window in it (required by the condo assoc). It opens inward.

I'm not sure how to get a "window treatment" for it that will allow me to be flexible with the direct light that comes in -- I'm a night owl, so I like BLACKOUT until I am ready to get up in the morning.

It seems like drilling holes into the new metal door is a last resort. I also don't like blinds that bang against the door when you move it (sloppy).

I thought about mounting a curtain above the threshold, but that would present problems when operating the door.

The door is a standard size with a large window pane that is sealed off by plastic plugs. The frame in there is probably plastic and is about 1/2 deep or less. Not much room.

I'm stumped! Can anyone offer some advice on how to approach this?
