Seeking opinions of lighting above main sink
Comments (7)Our layout sounds like it might be somewhat similar. And we definitely will have two relatively large pendants over our 6 1/2 ft long, 42 inch wide island. I thought about 3 smaller pendants but decided on two. And then the light over our cleanup sink which is in the middle of a 7 ft wide window will be the same kind of pendant. No upper cabinets on walls around window in our kitchen either. And then we will have 4 can LED lights (6 inch diam each from Home Depot). Two can lights on either side of the island, above the aisles and lined up above the cabinets lining each side of the room. Here's a picture of the pendant - of which we will have 3: Style of our kitchen is rather modern - Ikea Abstrakt -- very modern and not like this picture but wanted to show you the size - from what I read somewhere, guideline for our 42 inch wide island was 20 inch diameter for each pendant. Sorry I can't remember where I read this. Pendant in picture above is 19 inches in diameter. We will also have a short length of undercabinet lighting which will be dimmable (and other lighting also dimmable). Do some searching for "lighting guidelines" "over island" and maybe you can find some opinions that are not shy about being very specific. Good luck!...See MoreWhite cottage kitchen - light above sink help please
Comments (19)Fori, yes, the cat towel holder is staying . . thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot about that being black. Lots of votes for the lace curtain . . if I keep it, I have to hem that curtain! EAM44, thank you! I do like the suggestion of switching out the fan for a schoolhouse globe style and I love that pendand choice. DH said he can try to put the light on the wall provided there is no stud dead center but if I do put it in the ceiling, I was worried about it being too much and it being too close together. I do love the shutter idea and that may work. I considered those for my living room as we live right on top of our neighbors; however, the cats like to look out the window. The kitchen window is the only window they can't get too (well in a perfect world . . . ) Localeater, my sentiments exactly. I have this concern that I don't want it to look like a bath fixture but there are so many pretty lights to choose from. True, how often do you look straight up but I am tall and there are cabs on either side of the sink that I will access on a regular basis. It's almost a shame for the ceiling fan but we definitely need it. Shelayne, what a pretty fixture! Is the 8 inches the length/height (up and down) of the shade or the width (left to right)? Desertsteph, I'm so wrapped up in the countertop selection that I totally forgot I could change the shades on the fan and I think I will! Thanks. Annie, ooh! Very pretty! Thanks for the picture! We have way too many choices!...See Moreside or above lighting for vanity with off-centered sink
Comments (2)Our lighting could be a great addition to your home. We do custom lighting so we will be able to work to feed your needs and wants. Different amount/design/size of pendants, and size of backplate and overall fixture height etc. We also do 3D drawing before so you can have an idea of what it would look like before committing! Comments (8)Sounds like a really nice bathroom. But you have to get rid of the builder mirrors. Builders put these cheap mirrors in because they know people will put their own mirrors in. A frameless cut piece of mirror is about as cheap as you can get. The mirrors you install don’t have to be expensive. Big box building stores sometimes have nice ones that don’t cost a lot. I would save up for new mirrors & centre them under the lights....See Moremeasure_twice
