Thanks southernheart :) I know it's not everyone's taste, but I thought I'd share because we have a 70s house with the 8' ceilings and it's been nigh on to impossible to find an interesting ceiling fixture, much less one that reflects 'us' as much as this one does. It reflects us so much that last night realized what it's been reminding me of this whole time: amphibian egg masses! :) Backstory: DD and DH volunteered last year and are about to do so again this year with Metro, the local environmental authority, to find and monitor amphibian egg masses in one of Metro's preserves. They loved doing it, loved writing up field notes, it's become a strangely large part of our lives--because of last year's field notes DD's maybe going to write field notes about wildlife observation at the preserve in general -- pretty big honor for an 11 yo :) -- and darned if the little cipollini don't look like amphibian egg masses, some bigger, some smaller, some that didn't 'take' at all...so it's a wonderful, if somewhat odd, sign of spring up there :) (and don't worry, we won't share our personal image with any potential buyers when they come through years from now LOL) pbrisjar, I've been there the first year it opened, to get DH some unreal chocolates for VDay. OH yeah, it's definitely great. If you come visit, we'll go there, o.k.? :)

JoaniePoanie, I would say it is better than BM, but BM is also very good quality paint. I had used this Glidden Lifemaster paint years ago when it was Dulux Lifemaster, and at the time I was also very impressed. One thing I've noticed in particular about the paint where I feel it excels over BM and other paints is where it comes to painting in the corners. I've always used a brush to do those corners and then I go over it with a little wheely-sponge thing to smooth out the brush strokes. With every other paint, I've had to use a minimum of 3 or even 4 coats in the corners to have the paint look the same as the walls where I use two coats, but with the Lifemaster, I only need two coats in the corners. The paint in general spreads on so easy. I still can't believe I was able to put two coats of paint from only one can. (The room is around 11 x 14, I think.) I did have to do some tricks like scraping out every last drop from the sides of the paint can and also reusing the roller (wrapping it in damp cloths when not in use) rather than switching to a new roller which would have absorbed a ton more paint. I think Lifemaster was one of the first paints to be zero VOC. They were doing it back before the trend took over with all the other paint companies. You can buy it at the Glidden Professional stores. l

So I just tweeked your current plan a little bit by doing pier style cabinets on either side of the bed. Then you don’t have to have a nightstand. Or you can just do full height wardrobes. You will have to account for the jogs in the wall so that the bed is positioned so that you can get the doors open. Then the desk would be opposite the bed and possibly add a little bookcase. I am showing a queen sized bed.

Happy Holidays everyone! Here’s a few pics from this year. I have been crazy busy as I’m sure everyone else is. I added a pencil tree to the family room where the ladder use to be. Really enjoying that since we spend alot of time in there. Julie I am still going to get that brass end table you found after the holidays! DH went a little crazy on the living room tree this year way too FAT we have plenty of room for all our special ornaments from throughout the years!
