I would not worry about it since everything will look much better once the furniture, drapes, accessories, art, etc. goes in each room. Things will flow much better then. Plus you can repeat each color in the next room in some small way that helps with that flow.

I agree with you. I like the sage that you have in most of the house. But the blue and lilac don't seem to blend with the sage or each other. I am not sure what color direction you should go in but hope that by writing this will stayed on top for other color experts to make suggestions. I know how it is to pick a color you are not happy with. We painted our bedroom twice but are now happy with the BMGuilford Green.

Every since Lazygardens posted the Color Me Happy blog, I seem to refer to it constantly. She (Maria Killam) says that light colours don't lighten up dark rooms, so I wouldn't think lightening the bathroom would help.

What strikes me (unless your photos are misleading) is that your sage is a warm tone, the bed and bath cool. Basically, you've got grey and beige, which you likely wouldn't wear together.

That said, does it really matter? Do you see the colours superimposed much?

That lilac colour looks spectacular in your photo. I think that is the ideal application for a full-spectrum paint - a place where the light varies in a space.

Yes, for some reason, they bother me walking down the hall, one room then the other. The pictures show the alexandria blue darker than it is really. It is a very light and yes, cool color.

What actually bothers you? Is it the Sage with the cool colors? Or is it seeing the blue and lilac in close succession? Maybe a "neutral" hallway color would help...Classic Cream or something like that.

They are right next door to each other.
Hmmm.... good question.... I planned the blue for my sister's quilt. I picked lilac second and like it a bit better, but thought of changing it because that bathroom is the only functioning one and it feels so dark.

You can manage a dark room into whatever you want it to be - there really aren't any rules or limits. You just have to decided what you want it to be and then be prepared to take the steps to make it so.

Lighting and fenestration are the first things that should be addressed in any room. If it's unanimously agreed that it is inherently too dark, then you can take steps to change what is perceived to be a dark room.

If it's the only functioning bathroom and its natural light exposure is limited, I assume the light switch is automatically flipped on whenever someone goes into the room.

Maybe before repainting or ditching the idea of the Lilac you could make adjustments to your lighting plan. Bathroom light fixtures are (usually) an easy change - maybe choose a fixture with more lamps than the old one. Take a look at the light bulbs. Are they new, what wattage and what *color*...

We just sold our house where our master bedroom was painted silver sage and the bedding matched the walls. We are now renting a Townhouse where the master bedroom is painted a pale lilac. Its a BM color and quite pretty. But my bedding looks weird in the room. It makes the sagey-blue bedding look drab and greyish, almost dirty looking. I loved it in my other home.

It bothers me and I realize the two colors do not complement each other at all. The lilac paint does not contain any grey.

Because we are renting, I'm living with it. But I think I know what you are talking about.
