DE is flowing out of my skimmer after the pump shuts down
Comments (11)poolgenius, What are you talking about 2" suction line being undersized on a 2hp pump. I think you need to go back and learn hydraulics again. 1hp. You need to rethink this as well. What size filter does he have first off. What size is the pool? How far is the run from your equipment to your pool. These things all contribute to the size of filter and pump that you use. Please before you go and change all your equipment as suggested lets find out what the problem is. I am sure all equipment worked fine before they were moved. As far as the stand pipe o-ring I recommend replacing this as well I usually replace them every time I disassemble a de filter maybe I am over cautious but it works for me. I think someone suggested taking a look at the spyder gasket another good idea. And while you have the filter apart take a look at the manifold on the filter as well These can get cracked easily by overtightening and sometimes by just shear age. If this has happened you normally get de returning to the pool though not the skimmer. But again I would start off looking at the obvious before I would make any drastic changes. Good luck, David...See MorePump keeps burning out
Comments (1)Check the voltage. This sounds like a low voltage situation. BTW, a 3/4 HP is all you really need just to run the pump. It will save you on the power consumed with sacrificing that much in GPM. While the pump is desert rated, having it shaded will help some. Scott...See MoreSpa Jet Pump keeps tripping breaker
Comments (3)Typically, you would want anything on 220v on a double pole breaker. Those are the double wide ones with a bar connecting the 2 switches. From you description, it sounds like someone was trying to save space and use tandem breakers (single wide with 2 unconnected switches.) The problem with that is that the double pole breaker will trip both sides at once if there is a problem in either leg. Using 2 of these tandem breakers means that one leg can trip and leave the other live. If I had to take a wild guess, I'd guess the PV contractor moved 1 leg of your pump wiring up a slot and accidentally put it on the same phase as the other leg. There should be a diagram on your panel showing which slots are on what phase. The 2 for your pump need to be on opposite phases. Either way, it sounds like your original setup could use some improvements to bring it up to modern standards. I'd call an electrician and get a professional opinion....See More240V Pool pump motor goes DOWN with a 'pop'
Comments (4)Don't waste your time. That pump runs at max 10 lbs. After that the sand filter is supposed to be back washed. You could try a flow switch. You could be hard pressed to find a pressure switch that cuts in and out below 10 lbs. You have to remember that pump is a volume pump not a pressure pump. Bottom line is if you find the pump motor in the same condition as the old motor with the same complaint there is no warranty. The customer did not follow proper maintanance How can you not notice your skimmer is plugged and not maintain your pool ? My pool pump is over 200 dollars plus down time and if my water flow is restricted my pool heater locks out. My system is checked every morning and every night whether it needs it or not after i replaced the motor and pump assembly. I've found things in my skimmer that to this day i have no idea as to what it was. Some kind of bug. I think. I removed it with needle nose pliers. I wasn't touching it. your cutomer is not doing their part to help prevent this. If you have to go back with a similar problem bill them with 4 figures. that will knock their maintanance program into place....See Moreparadigmdawg
