Wow, that is much greener. I have only ever heard of the water going less green after a week, not more. I don't have Blue Granite (our PebbleTec is being installed next week...) but in all of my research this was one of the bluer colors. Have you considered adding a Sparkle Cube to your skimmer? They do wonders for taking out organic material, if that is what is syspended in your water, greening things up.

We have a good friend who has the Blue Granite Pebble Sheen and their water looks like your 7 day pictures. We just left our PB (we are still trying to decide between White Diamond or upgrade to Aqua Blue) and he did comment that each pool may look a little different. He explained that the Pebble Sheen is mixed on site so it can vary a little and that the color of your landscape can play off the pool.

Thanks for the info. I had seen the pictures of Jeff and Sharon's pool before, which is one of the reasons we went with blue granite PS. Their pool is very similar in style to ours. Their water color looks much bluer in their photos though. I may try the sparkle cubes you refer to, since we do have a lot of landscaping around the pool and 2 birch trees that are dropping stuff in it. The skimmer seems to be doing pretty well with all that but we have not started using the pool sweep yet, to get some of the junk off the bottom.

How long are you running the filter? Try running it for a couple hours longer in this hotter weather. We have had to almost double our run time these last few weeks.

Make sure you're also backwashing that filter as necessary. You might have to do this every other day or so if things are bad.

Even after four years, our Blue Granite Pebble Sheen still looks the same as the day I took all those pictures. Maybe a cleaning of the filter, longer run time, etc. will help clear up the water. You may want to take a water sample to a pool store and have it checked.

And your sure its not algae right?

I have heard that the color of the sky will also affect the color...We have Aqua Blue pebble sheen and if the sky is overcast, the water looks teal instead of Blue like it does on a clear sky day.

You have a beautiful pool and the water color doesn't look green in an objectionable way to me...but I DO see that Day 7 looks greener than Day 1.

As an owner of a pool with Ocean Blue PebbleSheen, I can tell you that my pool looks its bluest on sunny days with the sun directly overhead - and it looks to me like your Day 1 photos may have been taken in similar conditions.

Your Day 7 photos look like they're taken later in the day, at more of an angle, and with less sun. My own pool looks a tad greener under those same conditions as well. Like your pool, I also have a good deal of landscaping around the pool that the surface reflects as a greener color at certain times of the day and with the sun at certain angles.

Part of the charm of Pebble products, IMO, is the ever-changing look/colors...very, very natural.

However, to be sure there's not anything else going on, recheck your "balanced" water, especially your FC (free chlorine) and CC (combined chloramines). Be certain that your FC level is appropriate for your level of conditioner/stabilizer. If you already have a stabilizer level that's higher (60-80) - in preparation for your SWG -then be sure you have a higher FC level (approx 7-9)in the interim. Also be sure your pH is in range, as it has a tendency to push upward in new pools, even Pebble ones. In my own pool, the color gets a bit greener if my pH is getting out of range.

If I'm not mistaken, I think our start-up for Pebble was to have our pump/filter on 24/7 for 10-14 days. Be sure you're filtering enough now in the heat of the summer. Keep your skimmers clean and don't forget to clean out your pump's filter basket too.

Here's a possible thought:

Depending on the water source, you may possibly have minerals in the water. I used well water when I first filled my pool, and my water turned green. It got greener over about a week, as the copper and/or iron oxidized.
I went to a pool store, and got a product to pull the minerals out of the water. My water turned clear blue again, and I just don't use well water anymore.

We have had our water tested and it is clean and balanced. The water still looks the color of the day 7 pictures now on Day 14, even in bright sun. I'm starting to get used to it and accept it, as it is not a bad color, just not what I expected. Today we have a maintanace guy coming to clean the filter and start the pool sweep. We do have a fair amount of organic material that gets in the pool from a nearby birch tree.

My latest theory about the water has to do with the reflection of the flagstone hardscape and most importantly the staining of the artificial rock on the waterfall. The acid stain they used when building the rocks and waterfall may have started leaching after they were submerged in the water for a few days. I remember noticing yellow water after they first applied the coloring agent, when it was rinsed off. Then it dried out for a few months while they finished the rest of the pool. I never thought anything more of it until the other day when I was spot treating some spots with the same acid stain on top and realized it was this brownish yellow color when diluted. This may be a far fetched theory, as the water is clear and not yellow when we tested it at the pool store.

We don't have the Blue Granite -- we have Tahoe Blue with abalone shells added, but the water color is very close to Blue Granite. Our water color varies greatly depending on the weather and time of day. I have seen everything from a brilliant deep kind of sapphire blue to a more teal/greenish color. The vegetation around and over the pool seems to make a difference in the water color. We have trees that overhang parts of the pool, and the water definitely reflects the green and makes the water look much more green. The water is bluest in the winter when the trees are bare, especially on a clear, sunny day.
