A connection has been identified by a policeman between the full moon and bad behaviour Insp Andy Parr, of Sussex Police, looked at crime statistics for the Brighton and Hove area's nightlife. He said: "I compared a graph of full moons and a graph of last year's violent crimes and there is a trend. People tend to be more aggressive generally." Behaviour was also worse on pay days, Insp Parr discovered. The force is now planning to put extra officers on the streets for key dates during the summer - including the next full moon on June 30. Insp Parr said his findings were also backed up by his experience on patrol. advertisement "When you try to reason with people on a full moon they become more aggressive and less rational," he said. "When you try to reason with them on a full moon they become more argumentative." Peter Davenport, 38, who is a former pub landlord in Hove, endorsed the police findings. He said: "I'm not one to believe in folklore or superstitions or anything, but I honestly believe the full moon sends some people a bit loopy." Some studies have suggested a link between the lunar cycle and criminality. A three-month psychological study of 1,200 inmates at Armley jail in Leeds in 1998 showed a rise in violent incidents in the days either side of a full moon. Research has also been carried out into the association between the full moon and strange behaviour as portrayed in literature. Glenn Wilson, a psychiatrist at King's College London who carried out the study, sponsored by Jose Cuervo, the Mexican tequila distiller, concluded: "There is good reason to believe people's personalities do change around the time of the full moon, not because of any astronomical force, but because it creates the optimum lighting conditions for feeling carefree and mischievous." Insp Parr hopes his findings could lead to further research which would be of use to police officers. He added: "When we have the resources and if we can plan for it we will put on an extra officer or two."

Agreed that influent water velocity should be slower than effluent velocity, few applications need more than 90 GPM. With 2.5" pipe, the head loss is about 5.3 feet of head per 100' of pipe. That is well within code for suction lines. While an Intelliflo can run faster, the reason for the Intelliflo is to run it slower, reducing the amount of current it draws substantially. Governing it so that it doesn't exceed the flow rate of the pipe works. While many filters advertise much higher flow capabilities, these speeds will introduce significant head losses due to the water's velocity. As it is, a clean filter with 2" internal plumbing will, at 90 GPM, introduce over 12.5 feet of head and it only goes up from there as it gets dirty and or the water velocity increases. Slower water through the filter yields a cleaner water when it leaves than trying to run it at full load. The manufacturers look at the max flow from a "How much pressure can I put through it" point of view while a designer should look at it as what is reasonable. Add the added head loss of a 2" plumbed salt cell and the head loss rises significantly. This can lead to an inefficiency due to water velocity where the cell can't make it's rated amount of chlorine because it isn't there long enough. Add a heater and a bypass would need to be plumbed to ensure the water velocity and pressure aren't exceeded. Running an Intelliflo at full speed will generally exceed the capacity of the drain cover because the water is moving too fast. Extra care needs to be taken to ensure no swimmers are in the pool when this is happening, usually during draining to lower the level, such as after a heavy rain or for intentional dilution purposes. It should also be a consideration for the spa. If the drains are also plumbed to be returns for the purpose of heating, add a 3rd skimmer as they will be the only suction source and two may not provide sufficient flow to the pump when running at higher speeds. Intelliflow VS-3050 gets my vote. You'll run the system on it's lowest speed for normal operation, a little faster to heat the pool to satisfy the heater's flow switch, and a little faster yet for the spa use. The fourth speed would be good for vacuuming or running a pool sweep. I would also suggest you consider an Easy Touch and Intellichlor.

Thanks Racket, in response: 1. Too bad. The manual is a bit bewildering. 2. This feature was already programmed and working on the pool then i10+3D board failed and was replaced under warranty and reprogramming was not completed before the electrician ended up out sick, so I am looking for advice on how to set the spa button to toggle the spillover valve. 3. The User Guide says: Up to twelve (12) IntelliBrite light circuits can be displayed on the main Lights screen. From the Lights screen you can activate the IntelliBrite lighting features (i.e., color swim, color set). Assuming each IntelliBrite light has its own relay and separate circuit. The IntelliBrite LED (light-emitting diode) underwater light system provides brilliant vivid colors with spectacular effects for your pool, spa and landscape lighting features. Each of the energy efficient IntelliBrite colored LED arrays can be individually controlled to custom create any color sequence of the rainbow spectrum. Unfortunately this, from what I can tell you can not control each light seperately. When I am just using the spa is seems stupid to have to turn on 4 pool lights also to pick a mode and then turn them off. It also seems nuts that I can not set each light to its own color. I think Pentair screwed this one up and lumped "color swim" setup with the color set and show screens. 4. I guess after paying lots of money for something called "Intelli" I expected it to have some reasonable smarts. I suppose I thought wrong. 5.
