I saw this on the news....still shaking my head over this one. I can't believe how sick some people can be. Just when you think you've heard and seen it all something like this comes along to top it. So sad.....

I am thankful something finally happened and he decided to let them out. But why at this point? Can you imagine if he got sick or died what would have happened to the family? Sad to say the least.

This man deserves to rot in jail!

Amen Steph.It makes my blood boil to imagine and really we just can not put to words what this daughter and than what all these kids went thur.Call me harsh but this man deserves to die a terrible death.It may sound bad for me to say this but I try imagine what went thur this poor child's mind day after day and nite.I heard there was noise heard from a man but it never was put together that someone needed help.I agree with Good36 Let him Roit In H*ll,I know Good36 said Roit in Jail But I say let roit in H*ll!!!!!

Another news report said that he had applied for the building permit for what ended up as a dungeon when his daughter was only 12 years old.

I think of all the horrible stories I've heard in my life of what humans are capable of inflicting on other humans, this story has bothered me the most.

I heard the most time he can get is 15 years.

And I read that during that time, he had a wife upstairs...is that right? I'm amazed at the dispicable acts people inflict on their own children.

Yes, evatx, he and his wife raised a couple of the kids as "their own" from what I understood, but the wife supposedly had no knowledge of what he was doing. The wife thought that the children they were raising were their daughters (who was in the dungeon) and that she abandoned them.

This is one of the worst, if not the worst story I have ever heard. It has been on cable news since last week.

The worst I've ever heard of too. He'd bring the kids (3 I think), and have a note or something saying she was in a cult and couldn't take care of them. What a puke he is. He just looks evil. Like a Hitler.

IF he ever sees the light of day again (and I pray that he NEVER does)....I can't imagine that he would be able to walk ANYWHERE without watching his back....I would face the consequences of my actions if I was to meet him face to face!!!

I have to wonder how the mother of Elisabeth never went down to the basement to see what her husband was working on down there. Especially if he was doing so much work, it had to take a long time. Does anyone else find that strange?
That man (Monster!) is disgusting. Those poor people, what a horrible life they have lived.

I saw this too. I can't imagine the evil that would allow him to be able to look his wife in the eye all those years. Some of those kids had NEVER seen daylight. I can only imagine how sickly they all are.

I didn't read Steph's link so I might be repeating it, but I read that the only reason he allowed the couple kids/grand kids upstairs is because they weren't crybabies.

I am not buying that the wife didn't know something. How could she not. My God. SICK!!!

He was very controlling and had his wife terrified as well. He made it clear no-one was to go near the basement, that was his space, and she was so cowed by him she didn't, nor did she wonder why. I can well believe she was so beaten down by him that it just never occurred to her to think about why the basement was off limits, and that when he said their daughter had run off to join a cult (apparently she had run away once before he imprisoned her), and then that she had abandoned her children, that she took his statements at face value. Her sister said he was a very forceful man, "if he said it was black, it was black, even if it was ten times white".

I know men have a powerful sex drive and they can do cruel,horrible things to women, even their own flesh and blood. I am horrified at his acts. The only part I can't believe is that his own wife knew nothing.

I question whether the wife knew too. They say you had to go through 8 doors to get to the dungeon and that you have to use electronic devices to open the doors. It seems more than just a basement.

I wonder how they found out about him. Who told or knew they could tell? Who checked into this and how did they know to look into the dungen that the wife didn't know existed?

So many unanswered questions..fresh air being a big one, why didn't that many people run out of oxygen? How could no one have ever not heard a thing? The news said that when the 19 year old daughter/granddaughter became critically ill, he made the captive Mom help carry her to his car and then locked her back down there. They would have heard me screaming for help for miles..it's all so horrible I can't even begin to understand any of it.However I hope to heck he never sees the light of day in a dark cramped cell for his remaining days.

This story has been going on for at least a month I think. This monster had an elaborate entranceway with at least 3 doors if I remember. He made the little girl dig her own dungeon, help drag in the heavy door and later expand the place after children were born. The wife was scared of him and he ruled with an iron hand.

There are several stories in the Sun. This one has a sketch of poor Elizabeth and there are pictures of her when she was young. Also pictures of the wife and other kids.

The monster also went on sex trips to Thailand and left them locked in there for two weeks at a time.

The air was so bad in there the men had to air drill holes. And the 18 year old son walks bent over almost crawling and the boys have their own language with animal sounds.

The mother put notes in her sick daughters pockets so they found out they were in the dungeon.
