My DGD started a cup cake business in her kitchen about 4 months ago. She is doing real well and also enjoying it. She makes beautiful, delicious cup cakes.

judithva, I was worried about having them shipped, my husband didn't feel like running to any more stores. I set them up right away to see what they look like. The sundae cup I had already bought. It's true about being able to use them a lot. I just love them and right now they're sitting empty. I have a baby girl photo album almost done for the new little grandaughter. Got to get busy with the 10 grandchildren and great-grandaughters Christmas pails or cans done. Christmas just seems too close. linda

I haven't taken these "vitamins" but I will offer a few comments. The website is obviously well-funded and slickly designed. Unfortunately, I could not find any information on the contents of this product. I would think, given the build up, that they would be eager to tell you exactly what is in it. Most professional-level supplement companies do provide this information on their multivitamins. Some of the components they do mention, like lycopene, do not have any agreed upon daily values. Many times, these components are provided at "fairy dusting" levels useful only for marketing purposes, often far below the therapeutic levels quoted in the medical literature. Usually the more expensive the raw materials, the smaller the final dosage in the product, especially if you have to pack in 50 or 60 components. Without the content information, it is impossible to assess the quality of the product. The incessant hype about nanotechnology is just that. I have neither seen nor heard of anything in the medical literature that supports their claim that nanotechnology provides a superior carrier for nutrients. In fact, my understanding is that nanotechnology is in its infancy. I am continually amazed that people who would never purchase a 1.0 incarnation of a piece of software (like the current Microsoft Vista) will naively purchase the latest "technology" in medicine. The same wisdom applies in both cases - new or untested medical technology is buggy! If you need examples, look at PremPro or Vioxx. Given the hard sell, the guilt-tripping rap of their reps, and the lack of information that would allow an informed consent, I would say that this product is both overpriced and overhyped at the very list. I personally would not support a company that operates in this fashion. If you are looking for supplements specifically for eye health, consult a reputable naturopathic doctor, botanical medicine specialist, or Chinese medical practitioner trained in herbal medicine.

Here is a Pumpkin Pie Dump cake from a local newspaper but don't know which one. I've made it several times since I love pumpkin. 1 Box Yellow cake mix, type with no pudding in mix 1 stick (1/2 C.) butter, divided use 3 eggs, divided use 1 large can pumpkin pie mix 2/3 C. Evaporated milk 1 tsp ground cinnamon chopped walnuts Optional topping: whipped cream Oven 350 degrees 1. Remove 1 cup cake mix & set aside. Mix remainder of cake mix with 1/2 stick of butter and 1 egg. 2. Press mixture into bottom of a 13x9 pan and up the sides a little like a crust. 3. In another bowl mix 3 cups pie mix with 2 eggs and evaporated milk. Pour this mixture into the pan 4. Take remaining cake mix and combine with 1/2 stick of butter and cinnamon until crumbly. Add walnuts and sprinkle over top of mixture in pan. 5. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 min. or until knife comes out clean. Here is another one that I'd consider a "Dump Cake" too. All-Star Pumpkin Pie Dessert For Crust: 1 (18 1/4 ounce) pkg SPICE cake mix 1/2 C. butter, melted 1 egg For Filling: 1/2 C packed brown sugar 2/3 C milk 1 (15 oz.) can solid packed pumpkin 2 eggs 2 tsps. pumpkin pie spice For Topping: 1 C. reserved cake mix 1/4 C. packed brown sugar 1/4 c. butter, softened 1/2 C. chopped pecans Whipped cream 350 degree oven grease a 13x9 pan 1.Reserve 1 c. spice cake mix for topping, set aside 2.In large mixing bowl combine remaining cake mix, butter and 1 egg. Beat at low speed until well mixed. Spread in bottom of prep'd pan, set aside 3. In same bowl, combine all filling ingredients. Beat at low until smooth and spread over crust. 4. Combine all topping ingredients except pecans and whipped cream.,,stir til crumbly, stir in pecans, sprinkle over filling. 5. Bake 45-50 min. until knife comes out clean. Serve warm or cool with whipped cream. Yield 15 servings,,,source says Land O'Lakes

Mom2, In a way, BM's performance over the weekend might have been the best thing, a "silver lining" event. The skids aren't that thrilled to be with her, she is being so flaky that you don't have to work to hard to accomodate her and my goodness, how many people are at the house? It sounded like upwards of 15 folks conservatively with all of the various kids? Let her come to you and yours. And let her come correct! It sounds like since you cooperated, you can uncooperate now without a confrontation. She needs to fit in with your team, not the other way around. It sounds bad but it might really help you now. ''how you can be a good parent to one set of children and then completely ignore your other kids. how can one do that???" BTW, my skids, SS30 in particular, feel that my DH is being a better father with our son than he was with them. From what I know, they are right. Dh completely ignores his grandkids which of course feeds right in to the hard feelings. Lovehadley is right, often dads look at the 2nd set of children or child as a means to do things over in a better way. DH is not Super involved at the school or extracurriculars but he does show up for meetings, parent teacher conferences, Tae Kwon Do promotions, the occasional kiddie party if he knows the parents and so on. I know he did not do that with his first set of kids, SS in particular. My SS30 is still very angry about this fact. I think it's pretty common but what can I do? Tell him DON'T be a better father to our child because you weren't great with your first? Good luck.

We have a cupcake shop by us that was on Cupcake Wars (tv show)! Every cupcake looks perfect! Best of luck to DGD!

They surely are edible works of art!

Last summer we ordered cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes and had them sent all over the country. They were quite a hit!

We sent 3 or 4 dozen cupcakes to our younger son in Manhattan to celebrate his passing the bar 3 years ago. I thought that would be better than flowers. He walked the cupcakes around to the other lawyers and staff on his floor, and it allowed him to meet several people he had not yet met at his new job.

Thanks, ladies, for your comments on the cup cakes. The round top smooth blue with white ribbon was done when a customer asked for a cupcake that looked like a Tiffany box, so she tried different tints until she came up with that one. Then she did the blue square box "just because." She enjoys a challenge. The other blue one is "hydrangea" and I think that one is super beautiful.

I have watched Cup Cake wars a couple times and just watching it makes me nervous; can't imagine what the contestants are going through.

She has mentioned shipping, but not ready for that yet. She has done a few wedding cakes. Actually her DH is an amateur, but very good, photographer, and they together have done several weddings, including all the refreshments.

Msmagoo, she is in McGaheysville. Are you in that area?

I'll pass your comments on to to her. I know she will appreciate them as much as I have.

Cupcakes are very popular right now, so good for her for starting her own business! We have cupcake stores popping up all over Seattle lately!

A good friend of mine has been baking cupcakes from this site...where you literally bake something else you have baked into a cupcake. I've had a few things he's made; mini keylime pies baked into cupcakes with lemon frosting, for my bday he made me those peanut butter cookies with the hershey kiss on top...and then baked that into a vanilla cupcake with peanut butter frosting. He made mini banana cream pies baked into some kind of cupcake with banana frosting. Oh my gosh they are SO good! It seems like a lot of work though!

That's a cute site. I always wanted to start a home bakery business. Do you know what she had to do to be licensed and insured? I know it varies by state and can be a difficult process. She's lucky to be in a state that allows home kitchens to be licensed. A lot of them require completely separate or commercial kitchens.

Jennmomkey, those bake-in-a-cake look mighty good!

Chi83, I really don't know what she had to do; I remember her saying when the Inspector had been there and I know she had to be licensed. Google for your state and see,
