This was the question posed on the lid of a bottle of iced tea I quite enjoyed today (the tea AND the question! lol!).

Well, how 'bout you? How old would you be?

The cleavage question got me thinking about this. I feel like I'm in my 40's. Not too young, not too old.

In my brain I am still in my 20's, but my body (especially my thyroid) tells me I am an old woman.

I am actually 50.

I really appreciate all of the input, suggestions and questions. The room is a big, ugly shell right now so now is the time for all major design issues to be addressed! John, thanks for the info on the drains and the flood test. Waterproofing is definitely a priority since our project has been complicated by uncovering evidence of water leaks that were previously unknown. We're in Michigan, unfortunately, too far away to take you up on your kind offer! I know that our door situation isn't ideal but it's one that we feel we can live with. We had considered using a pocket door but we're not able to relocate electrical switches to allow for it. I didn't try too hard to work around that issue though because I'm not a big fan of pocket doors personally. I'm definitely going to plan for niches right away, before the framing and plumbing is done. Emknc, thanks for posting a photo... You have a very spa-like room and I love your accent tile! Jglassdude, thanks for your input. I know that a 3rd sink would seem to be overkill but we (ok, mostly my micro-biologist husband!) prefer to wash our hands inside the lav area, before opening a door to come out and use a sink. Originally, the water closet fit within the square outline of the room and once we realized that we could bump it out and orient the toilet in the new space, we then added the sink where the toilet was planned to go. It's funny that you mention a bidet because we just tore one out... I used to use it for in-home pedicures and as a mop-sink for the floor! Lol! I should have mentioned that the shower head and control were shown on our drawing prior to the decision to hinge the door on the right. She correctly put the showerhead on the little corner piece because we can't run plumbing on an exterior wall but, as you pointed out, it angles straight at the door. We were thinking of instead having the NE corner of the shower built to accommodate a shower head that could angle more straight across the shower, especially since the door would swing away from it. It would seem that our controls then would be best on the south wall of the shower. Could you explain what you mean by "double acting door intent"? I'm not planning to hang towels in the tub area but there are raised areas on each end of the tub where towels can be placed while we are bathing. We've designed towel niches on either end of the tub step for extra rolled towels. We're planning to put a Runtal Solea towel warmer on the wall between the water closet and the shower. This is pretty much what the room looks like now... You can look right down into my kitchen and my dining room(!) The bifold door to the left of the ladder is my old linen closet door and will be walled off.

I just want to caution you to tread carefully when interfering with teen love. Studies have been done on this topic, and it is NOT true that loves from your 20s are stronger or more important than young/teen loves. In fact, the opposite is true. Young, teen loves often form the strongest bonds of any love relationship in your life. Scientists believe that there is a hormonal "imprint" that these early loves have on one another's brains very similar to the "imprint" that babies and mothers experience. When these loves are disrupted because of parental interference/disapproval, it can have devastating lifelong effects on the couples' ability to form lasting and fulfilling love relationships in their adult years because they are haunted by unfinished business. Don't diss young love. It IS the real thing. I'm attaching a link to the website of Dr. Nancy Kalish, who has done a lot of research on young love, and the effects of reunions between teen lovers in adulthood. Although my children are both very young, I believe very strongly that you must allow your children enough freedom to form these attachments and see them through to their own natural course. Some WILL end up happily married right out of high school. Some will break up because they're not getting along. But the most important thing we can do as parents is talk to our children about the importance of love, what real love looks like, and make sure they are safe. Make sure your children know their values, are prepared and know what they need to and want to do when it comes to s*x, and encourage them to bring their girlfriends and boyfriends home so that you can keep an eye on the situation without making them feel like star-crossed lovers. I'm not looking forward to this period in my children's lives because it makes me nervous, but I do hope they find and know real romantic love. Good luck! loribee, I finally got a chance to snap and upload some living room photos. Here is the after, which I just love: In the second photo, the Pier One table has the small lamp and Jerusalem Pottery on it. That, and the sofa pillows and rug are the only purchase I made. (sorry I didn't straighten up the throw pillows before taking the picture,) I am not going to "stick" something on the wall over the table. I am going to look over the next year or 2 and try to find something, maybe on vacation next year. Good news is the old boiler thermostat was there. Last year we put in new AC, and they moved all the controls upstairs. So I finally got to yank off and patch the wall where that was. It drove me crazy trying to hide it with something. I couldn't find any good pictures of the before. But before the TV was where the Pier One table is now. So the sofa was between the 2 french doors (and it was too long to look good there). And the leather club chairs and ottomon were on the front window wall. Very awkward to watch TV, because you were not facing it, and had to turn your head. It was hard to see the fireplace, and the room was lined up like a bowling alley. And it had a very large very burgundy rug that just sucked up the light from the north-facing room with 1 window. I honestly can't believe that this looks and feels and functions so much better just by making these small changes. And in case anyones is wondering, the cabinet holding the TV is a sideboard. We removed the lower drawer, drilled a hole through the back for cords, and put the cable box and internet through there.

My engagement ring is a beautiful diamond that came from my spouse's great-grandmother's engagement ring. It's really old (obviously, LOL), and when I had it set into the ring I picked out the jeweler remarked at its age and its clarity. He said he could tell it was cut long before modern machines existed. I don't think I would have wanted my spouse to spend what it would have cost in today's dollars to buy that ring. I'm also not a huge jewelry person anyway. But the antique stone has a nice family story and I feel special that its mine now. I'm weird enough that I often like things other people don't, so I rarely comment negatively on someone's else's design choices (whether it is home decorating or jewelry)...but that first ring in the original post feels awkward to me. The 2 stones just don't belong together - particularly with that setting - and I couldn't wear it because it would bug me way too much.

some days, especially at work (we are a strange bunch!), i feel like i am frozen at age 12 ... ! i guess i just try to be the jokester and fool around, to make people laugh, and lighten the place up (we are on tough deadlines every day).

most days, I feel like i'm about 30 (i'm 45 plus a handful!).
i don't feel like i've matured physically, the face, that is-- things ARE sagging, tho!

I'm really 59 but I have Peter Pan Syndrome. I am whatever age I want to be at any given moment. I don't see myself younger than 37 though. I wouldn't want to be. That was the year I found myself again after many years of wearing a "mask" and trying to fit in where I really didn't want to be and where I really wasn't wanted.

Good question & I enjoy seeing all the answers!

I get things done like I'm 25, sewing, cooking, jogging things...but my skin is NOT tight...I'd say 70! I'm 50.

And I'm done showing cleavage! My tank tops are jewel necked, not plunge!

I'm 62 but feel younger than I did in earlier years. I am in a wonderful second marriage and doing things I never had time for--golf, mah jongg, time with friends. I work part-time at a community college where I do feel "old" since the students are younger than my own children, but never feel old in my community. Wish my body was more like it was, but gathered wisdom makes up for it.

Mentally I think I'm about 30. I have a lot of energy on my "good' days when I don't have dialysis. On D days I feel like 60 and I'm really 57.

I just told DH the other day that he makes me feel 25!
I really am truly shocked when I see pictures of myself!

I still feel young, Still feel the same as I did in my early thirties, and I am in my 70's. Thankful for good genes.

I'm 50 but my skin is really good. I think it is because I have alway exercised since my teen years. But some days I look kinda haggard, and some days I look great. I rarely wear make-up, maybe I should start doing that more. When I have full face paint on I look pretty good. I just started taking glucosamine for knee pain when I do squats and lunges in my exercise class and it does seem to be helping.

Until I got my driver's license renewed last month I thought I was holding up rather well. (Must be the 'soft white' incandescents at my bathroom mirror.) It's not wrinkles as much as gravity damage. When they can 'lift' hands too I'll consider having my face done!

I'm 60 and probably feel about 45-48. Luckily, my health is good. Body sure isn't what it used to be, but I still feel pretty young. Age is a number and mine's just getting a little bigger every year! LOL

I am 68 and sometimes have to stop and figure it up! LOL Maybe because my brain IS 68(along with my body? LOL I feel a lot younger than that,maybe 50 or so.I wish!
I have never been one to worry or fret about age and as I said I have often had to stop and think about it when telling someone how old I am.I have also been told that I don't look "that old"!LOL

I'm 72 but no one believes me when i tell them.I'm not wrinkled,still do lots of yard work,do most anything i want to do,except climb ladders.Have had 1 total knee replaced and the other gives me lots of trouble.Like Mary Ann i've also been to he** and back the last 2 years with BC,but doing well for the most part now,and my hair is still not all grey.I chalk it up to good Genes!!
