This was the question posed on the lid of a bottle of iced tea I quite enjoyed today (the tea AND the question! lol!).

Well, how 'bout you? How old would you be?

The cleavage question got me thinking about this. I feel like I'm in my 40's. Not too young, not too old.

In my brain I am still in my 20's, but my body (especially my thyroid) tells me I am an old woman.

I am actually 50.

We are preparing to build on an infill lot. We looked long and hard for the right opportunity. We ended up buying an older house on a double lot. We are fixing up the old house to sell and will build on the vacant lot. That being said, I looked at a number of possible teardowns and possible renovation/addition properties. If it were me, I would look long and hard at the price, location and attractiveness of the lot. If your market is individual buyers, I would talk a lot about the location, proximity to amenities, school district, etc. The lot we will build on is very very small, but the location is excellent. As with pretty much any house sale, if the price is right, you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding a buyer. Is this property in Chicago? If so, can I ask which suburb? Another possibility you may want to consider is subdividing the lot and selling it as two separate parcels. Our lot added very little to the price of our house, but is worth substantially more as a stand alone property.

loribee, I finally got a chance to snap and upload some living room photos. Here is the after, which I just love: In the second photo, the Pier One table has the small lamp and Jerusalem Pottery on it. That, and the sofa pillows and rug are the only purchase I made. (sorry I didn't straighten up the throw pillows before taking the picture,) I am not going to "stick" something on the wall over the table. I am going to look over the next year or 2 and try to find something, maybe on vacation next year. Good news is the old boiler thermostat was there. Last year we put in new AC, and they moved all the controls upstairs. So I finally got to yank off and patch the wall where that was. It drove me crazy trying to hide it with something. I couldn't find any good pictures of the before. But before the TV was where the Pier One table is now. So the sofa was between the 2 french doors (and it was too long to look good there). And the leather club chairs and ottomon were on the front window wall. Very awkward to watch TV, because you were not facing it, and had to turn your head. It was hard to see the fireplace, and the room was lined up like a bowling alley. And it had a very large very burgundy rug that just sucked up the light from the north-facing room with 1 window. I honestly can't believe that this looks and feels and functions so much better just by making these small changes. And in case anyones is wondering, the cabinet holding the TV is a sideboard. We removed the lower drawer, drilled a hole through the back for cords, and put the cable box and internet through there.

You are old when you visit you old home place and find a mobile home parked next to the yard, the house is being used for storage and a chicken roost, there is no trace of your grade school, the old highschool building has big crack running from the foundation up to the roof line and it is in danger of forced closure due to lack of funds for the teacher's pension fund, the church you and your parents attended was closing it doors for good, the business section in the town has failed, all the country stores are gone, and everyone's a stanger. The only viable business is the funeral home and it has plenty of business. The gas station you worked at as a youth has changed owners and brand names at least 6 times. And most everyone you knew in highschool are retired! Sadly, you find your social life revolving around funerals.

We bought our current and last house a few years ago. The subdivision is a former plantation with 100 year old oak trees lining the street entrance. We owned a 2.5 acre lot in the subdivision for years with the intention of building. We kept putting off building, until a health crisis made us realize we weren't going to live forever and needed to make a decision. We decided we didn't want the hassle of building, so put the lot up for sale. It sold the next day. I told our realtor to find us a one story house in the same subdivision. She told me there was a 2 story that was going to be listed as soon as the owners finished renovating the master bathroom. She gave us the address so we could do a drive by. We loved the outside. It had a lot of mature trees and was on a more manageable sized lot for us - a little over 1.5 acres. We asked her to let us see the house before she put a sign in the yard. We didn't look at any other houses. When we finally got to go inside, we loved it. We made an offer immediately. They accepted. I have never loved living anywhere, like I love living here.

I'm 63...I feel like I am in my 30's...or did, until just recently. My bad knee tells me I am probably in my 70's.

some days, especially at work (we are a strange bunch!), i feel like i am frozen at age 12 ... ! i guess i just try to be the jokester and fool around, to make people laugh, and lighten the place up (we are on tough deadlines every day).

most days, I feel like i'm about 30 (i'm 45 plus a handful!).
i don't feel like i've matured physically, the face, that is-- things ARE sagging, tho!

I feel like I am still in my 20's most days. I certainly don't feel like I am in my mid 40's.

I'm really 59 but I have Peter Pan Syndrome. I am whatever age I want to be at any given moment. I don't see myself younger than 37 though. I wouldn't want to be. That was the year I found myself again after many years of wearing a "mask" and trying to fit in where I really didn't want to be and where I really wasn't wanted.

Good question & I enjoy seeing all the answers!

I get things done like I'm 25, sewing, cooking, jogging things...but my skin is NOT tight...I'd say 70! I'm 50.

And I'm done showing cleavage! My tank tops are jewel necked, not plunge!

I'm 62 but feel younger than I did in earlier years. I am in a wonderful second marriage and doing things I never had time for--golf, mah jongg, time with friends. I work part-time at a community college where I do feel "old" since the students are younger than my own children, but never feel old in my community. Wish my body was more like it was, but gathered wisdom makes up for it.

Mentally I think I'm about 30. I have a lot of energy on my "good' days when I don't have dialysis. On D days I feel like 60 and I'm really 57.

Probably 25.
I just told DH the other day that he makes me feel 25!
I really am truly shocked when I see pictures of myself!
How can I be "that" old?

I still feel young, Still feel the same as I did in my early thirties, and I am in my 70's. Thankful for good genes.

I'm 50 but my skin is really good. I think it is because I have alway exercised since my teen years. But some days I look kinda haggard, and some days I look great. I rarely wear make-up, maybe I should start doing that more. When I have full face paint on I look pretty good. I just started taking glucosamine for knee pain when I do squats and lunges in my exercise class and it does seem to be helping.

Until I got my driver's license renewed last month I thought I was holding up rather well. (Must be the 'soft white' incandescents at my bathroom mirror.) It's not wrinkles as much as gravity damage. When they can 'lift' hands too I'll consider having my face done!

I'm 60 and probably feel about 45-48. Luckily, my health is good. Body sure isn't what it used to be, but I still feel pretty young. Age is a number and mine's just getting a little bigger every year! LOL

I am 68 and sometimes have to stop and figure it up! LOL Maybe because my brain IS 68(along with my body? LOL I feel a lot younger than that,maybe 50 or so.I wish!
I have never been one to worry or fret about age and as I said I have often had to stop and think about it when telling someone how old I am.I have also been told that I don't look "that old"!LOL

I'm 72 but no one believes me when i tell them.I'm not wrinkled,still do lots of yard work,do most anything i want to do,except climb ladders.Have had 1 total knee replaced and the other gives me lots of trouble.Like Mary Ann i've also been to he** and back the last 2 years with BC,but doing well for the most part now,and my hair is still not all grey.I chalk it up to good Genes!!
