I made it to Van Horn

Thank you gals for keeping me company today on the LOOOONNNNGGGG boring road. I really enjoyed chatting with Gayle and Hayjud. Thanks for checking up on me Daisy, you are the bestest pal.

Since it was raining and dark at my house this morning the cats decided to let me sleep in. Just when you depend on them to be your alarm clock the decide to malfunction.

Anyway I woke up at 6 and of course fed the little beasts before I could do anything else. Took my shot and got dressed. Ran around putting together the last minute stuff and double checking everything. Almost forgot some things on the guest bed but had to run in there for something and discovered them. My trunk has so much stuff in it you would think I was going away forever.

I finally hit the road about 8 and ran right into hail about 4 miles from home. The wind was blowing but not too bad until I got about 30 miles from home and onto I-10. Then it just blew and blew and blew harder. I was glad I wasn't on the trike or I would have been blown sideways across the road. I felt bad for all the folks I saw riding motorcycles and bicycles today.

By the time I got a couple hours from home it was raining. Not a heavy rain just enough that you had to run your windshield wippers intermittenly. Got gas in Lordsburg and it was so cold with that wind blowing. My thermometer on the car said it was 56 but felt colder than that. Just nasty weather for over 400 miles.

Got here at a decent time 5:30 and checked into the motel. Man has this motel come up in the world. It is so clean and smells nice. Even have a refrigerator and microwave and wifi for the computer. I'm impressed.

Went to have dinner and ended up at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered my favorite Chili Releno. It was good but the left in a bunch of seeds so it was too hot for me. I ate what I could which was abut half of each of them and left the rest. They serve breakfast so I will probably eat there in the morning. It is on the way out of town (they only have 2 main roads one on either side of the highway).

Oh I forgot to say that I knew that Van Horn had trains but I didn't remember this many. Of course my hotel is right across the street from the railroad tracks. Thankfully when I take out my hearing aids I won't hear a thing.

Talk to you all again tomorrow from MaryAnn's house.
